Air Jordan Retro 1: Coming to a golf course near you
Back when I started playing golf, everyone wore shoes like these…
Perhaps many WRXers are used to lacing something along the lines of these up…
And some may be more comfortable with…
But thanks to the Keegan Bradleys, Rickie Fowlers, and Michelle Wies of the world, we’re in new era of golf footwear.
Behold: the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Golf Shoe. According to the good folks at Sneaker News, MJ’s son Marcus leaked an earlier sample of the shoes, but now official images have hit the wire. The 1’s traditional “Chicago” colorway is expected to be joined by a white/gray colorway. And although a release date hasn’t been set, Sneaker News speculates the shoes will hit shelves in late spring.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Jordan 1’s are one of my favourites. But I think the 9’s, 11’s, 12’s and 13’s would be better suited for Golf style wise.

It’s a free country. But things like this give me doubts as to whether that is a good thing.
The nice thing about private golf clubs — one of a great many nice things about private clubs — is that, in their wisdom, their boards could enact rules banning such things.

This is good! Golf shoes are starting to look more sporty nowadays anyway. Good that people have choices and can look good on the course in whatever style they want. Guess it’s Nike’s response to Puma’s Fowler hightops. Too bad Keegan Bradley is not the same marketing star like Ricky is.

it cracks me up that people get offended about shoes likes this. Thug life this, ghetto that, etc… I see these so called “golf traditionalists” at my club. They look like total fashion rejects. Pleated short shorts with an ill fitting XXL golf shirt and tired old footjoys. if thats the alternative, i’ll pass.

I absolutely love basketball. I’m 31, I played D1 college ball, and still follow college basketball religiously; however, can we please keep basketball and all other outside fashion (i.e. jumpers and high-tops and flat-brimmed hats) out of golf?!! I know manufacturers have their hearts in the right place– in growing the game of golf and appealing to the public– but OUR game is a game of tradition, respect, honor, and integrity; and “street” style doesn’t exemplify or inspire any of those values.

Need Hi tops. Want them. I walk many rounds, and the courses I play(afford) leave the grass clippings behind. It ends up in my socks, they end up ruined after I cannot separate all the dead grass/hay out of them. Took up wearing Puma Fas Lites w/o socks as remedy, but then need to foot spray those for stunk factor. The Nikes may allow socks and some comfort again!

The first option is best looking by far. You won’t be allowed on a course in Japan or Korea in those Jordan’s. And that’s a good thing!

I love the 1’s. They are my favorite Jordan silhouette but the midsole/outsole on this just kills the look for me. I will stick to my 6’s and 9’s.

I agree with you. My hope is that they will reimagine the midsole/outsold for future releases instead slapping a classic upper on a TW base.
