PXG launches new 0317 X Driving Iron

Published

on

Targeting the better player who is looking for an alternative to a hybrid or a course-specific club (low bullets, anyone?), PXG announced its new 0317 X Driving Iron.

Engineers sought to bake in greater MOI and ease of launch in the triple-forged 8620 carbon steel design. According to PXG, the process “creates a tight crystalline grain structure that delivers a pure resonance and an excellent feel at impact.”

Additionally, the front and rear of the clubhead are milled to exact specifications, followed by robotic polishing.

PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons called the club, “A slick replacement for a wood when the course calls for it”

Featuring a taller and longer blade length than what is found in a traditional player’s iron, the clubface is backed by PXG’s XCor2 material, which debuted in the 0311 GEN6 irons. The injection-molded resin core supports the face and boosts ball speed.

The rear of the club features a large weight located near the center of gravity. Accordingly, can use the company’s Precision Weighting Technology to dial in swingweight.

Have any other club builders/club repair techs noticed that PXG iron hosels are a little larger than .370 and that they are using TTip .355 iron shafts??? I have had many PXG owners bring me their irons with multiple loose heads or completely separated heads and shafts. The only “shim” is the collared ferrule and way too much epoxy and 99% of the steel shaft tips are bent.
