What clubs are you buying next season? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing their planned purchases for next season. WRXer ‘captwilks67’ has kicked off the thread with a very specific list:

“Driver: Ping G430 Max w/ Tensai 1k black 70 Stiff. Woods: Ping G430 Max 3 wood w/ Ventus blue 70 Stiff. Hybrids: Ping G430 Max 3 and 4 w/ Ventus blue 80 stiff. Irons : Srixon ZX7/ZX5 combo w/ KBS Tour Stiff shafts. Wedges: Edel Wedges 50, 56, 60 w/ DG wedge shafts or Tour V wedge shafts. Not sure on the wedge spacing. Would either get rid of a club somewhere else and add a wedge or maybe go 50, 54, 60 .”

And our members have been sharing the clubs they have their eye on in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • J_Tizzle: “G430 LST for sure. And the wedges are due for an upgrade, but that’s probably about it. Oh, and one of those new Vessel-looking Sun Mountain bags and some Winston Collection headcovers. Maybe those new Puma shoes…”
  • Briggs2158: “I have a serious problem with buying golf equipment I do not need. I literally need nothing. I have some of the newest equipment right now, and I’ll still somehow end up buying at least a new iron set. Depends on what Callaway replaces the Apex MBs with.”
  • St Jimmy: “I’ll try the G430LST and new Stealth driver, but probably won’t buy anything unless one blows away the G425LST.”

I’m going to buy next season’s “longest” driver, the one that’s like 1 MPH faster (@ 110 MPH swing speed) than this year’s model. Oh wait, that’s all of them!

I’ll wait for the G440 and get the G430 at a lower price. G410+ is in good shape and finding fw’s. I do want to upgrade my 56* to the new Hi Toe 3.

Probably pick up some of this year’s stuff at a steep discount.

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
  • driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300.  The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length.  I am playing a Ventus Red 70.   I play 70 grams in my fairways.  I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee.  When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time.  So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck.  The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
  • JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”
