GolfWRX x TRENDYGOLF USA: The hottest trends in golf footwear today – Functionality

Published

on

GolfWRX is and has been the destination for golf gear for some time—that is, everything that goes in your golf bag. But in addition to our best-in-the-industry coverage of club launches and what’s being played on tour, we want to bring you more info about exciting apparel and footwear trends in general and launches in particular.

The golf apparel and footwear landscape has changed massively since we launched the GolfWRX forums in 2008—long gone are the days of tent-sized polo shirts and saddle shoes as the only shows in town. To help play our way through the current course, we’re leaning on TRENDYGOLF USA, the self-professed “institution that wants to bring the latest designs from the trendiest designers around the world to the forefront of fashion, both on and off course.”

At GolfWRX, we believe the folks at TG USA are doing just that, and we couldn’t be happier to have them helping us with yardages and putt-reading, as it were.

First up, we took a look at the nostalgia-inspired footwear. Now it’s time to check out what’s on offer in the ‘Functionality’ department.

So lace ‘em up, and let’s walk this “functionality” landscape together!

Functionality

Nike

Nike’s Infinity Tour was a result of player input to create a better shoe for the modern swing. They were also able to pull over their most popular mainstream shoe and retrofit it for golf with the AirMax 270G.

Air Max 270 G – $150

Color Options: White/Dusty Cactus/Black

Air Zoom Infinity Tour – $160

Color Options: White/Baseball Blue, White/Volt, Black/White, White/Black

Adidas

Adidas is known for pushing the boundaries on products to improve functionality. This version of the Code Chaos is an example of that.

Adidas Code Chaos BOA – $216

Color Options: Black/Signal Green/White, White/Grey/Solar Red,

G/FORE

The MG4+ is brand new this season from G/FORE combining lightweight comfort and technical performance for maximum functionality.

MG4+ – $185

Color Options: Snow, Charcoal, Onyx, Twilight, Nimbus

Puma

While Puma has plenty of eye-catching footwear offerings (look no further than the feet of Rickie Fowler), the company isn’t afraid to put function first and focus on the traction pattern of the sole before the bold appearance of the upper as in the NXT Crafted.

Ignite NXT Crafted – $160

Color Options: Black, Navy

Stay tuned, as next up, we’ll be showcasing shoes with the highest hype factor!

Coolest thing for sale in the GolfWRX Classifieds (5/8/24): Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna putter

Published

on

At GolfWRX, we are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment of the game in many ways.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna putter.

From the seller: (@kcsf): “Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna. -I will regret this one selling for sure. It does have one small nick on the face near the toe as shown, otherwise in amazing new condition.  -BOS reconditioned and received last month. Oil can finish as done new by BOS when this putter was released many moons ago. -Head cover is authentic SC and shows age. Velcro is worthless of course, but does stay closed.  -Length is 34.25 inches, original shaft. -Grip is old and needs replacing. I can have my pro do it prior to shipping at an additional cost of the grip only. -$475.”

To check out the full listing in our BST forum, head through the link: Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Laguna putter

This is the most impressive current listing from the GolfWRX BST, and if you are curious about the rules to participate in the BST Forum you can check them out here: GolfWRX BST Rules

Mitsubishi Diamana WB: What you need to know + club build, on-course testing

Published

on

GolfWRX’s Resident Club Junkie, Brian Knudson, was naturally excited to get his hands on Mitsubishi’s new Diamana WB shaft.

In this video, BK gives you a brief overview of the new WB, builds up a driver, and takes it to the course for some testing.

With the rebirth of the iconic Whiteboard profile, Mitsubishi didn’t just re-issue a classic, but rather infused all the company’s latest tech into a new shaft, paying homage to the original with its quintessentially Hawaiian-inspired stylings. A summary of that impressive roster of technology, below.

  • 80-ton Dialead pitch fiber: Positioned in the handle, Dialead is designed to deliver greater ball speed via better energy transfer.
  • Aerospace-grade MR70 carbon fiber adds additional strength, and 46-ton fiber in angle plies in the tip section reduce torque for tighter shot dispersion.
  • Consistent Feel Design: Engineers target minimal variance across shafts (butt OD, weight, and balance point) to make the fitting process easier.
  • Xlink Tech Resin System: Engineers continue to reduce resin content and increase carbon fiber volume for greater feel without sacrificing strength and durability.
