Spotted: Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 LSL prototype shaft

Published

on

LSL stands for “lower spin and launch,” according to Nippon, and is the goal of its new prototype iron shafts we spotted on the range at the 2016 Safeway Open.

Nippon tells us the LSL is based on the company’s N.S. Pro Modus3 125. It has a similar smooth bend profile and is roughly the same weight (125 grams), but has been designed to create a flatter trajectory for players in need of such a flight.

In recent years, Nippon’s line of N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour iron shafts (105, 120, 125 and 130) and wedge shafts (105, 115 and 125) have become extremely popular on the PGA Tour, with a notable number of the world’s best switching into the shafts and racking up wins.

At this time, Nippon says the LSL is strictly a prototype, tour-only shaft. As always, we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we learn more. Until then, feel free to join the discussion in our forum thread for speculation and other commentary.

The feel of Nippon shafts are special. I have Modus 3 in my clubs and they have been great.
I do want to try the wedge shafts and see if they fit me.

Seriously, stop Boom. Pointless comment. I think the shafts look nice and will fit a lot of players who wanted a heavier version of the 120.

Can they lower my flight to 6 feet off the ground?
