Making Moves: Callaway, Adams, TaylorMade, Cleveland/Srixon, Cobra/Puma add more signees

Published

on

Equipment signing period is in full throttle with handfuls of PGA Tour standouts making a move to different sponsors for the 2014 season. Some of the more high-profile signings were announced earlier this week as Ernie Els (Adams), Henrik Stenson (Callaway), Harris English (Callaway), Matteo Manassero (Callaway), Graham Delaet (Puma Apparel) and Vijay Singh (Hopkins Golf) all signed new deals

Callaway has been the biggest player during the signing period, attaining a variety of players with varying levels of tour experience. They have combined young, up-and-coming talent with those that have already established their place on tour.

Those joining the Callaway team include Matt Every, Pat Perez, John Rollins, Kiradech Aphibarnrat (pictured above), Jonathan Byrd (pictured below), Richard Lee, along with PGA Tour rookies Thomas Pieters, James Erkenbeck and Chase Seiffert.

TaylorMade signed on Carl Petterson (from Nike this fall), as well as Trevor Immelman (Callaway) and Scott Langley (PING), who will join in on the marketing takeover we’ve seen from TaylorMade in recent years.

Adams Golf, after recently acquiring Ernie Els to the staff, also announced the additions of Josh Teater (pictured below) and Nicholas Thompson, who are sure to be competitive on tour for years to come.

Cleveland/Srixon added long ball hitter J.B. Holmes, William McGirt, and K.J. Choi (to a bag/glove/golf ball deal). The sponsors lost Vijay Singh to a new face on tour, Hopkins Golf, and will look to renovate their image with some new names.

Cobra/Puma joined the group of companies adding new players in 2014 by signing Will MacKenzie, also known as “Willy Mac.” MacKenzie will wear apparel from the Sports Lux line from Puma Golf, available in stores on Feb. 1.

“Willy Mac is a great fit for COBRA PUMA GOLF,” said Bob Philion, president of Cobra/Puma Golf. “He is a proven Tour winner and has a style and swagger that sets him apart. We are thrilled to be adding him to our Tour team.”

I always love the way these players change equipment and then make a commercial about how great their new equipment is.
ask Rory. It’s ALL about the benjamins.

Callaway with a huge amount of signing, TM with a bunch, Cleveland and Adams with a couple. Nike, Titleist and Ping with no mentions so far.

    Interesting times.

It is surprising to see Byrd move away from Mizuno. Seems like Titleist has lost some players and has not gained any. They still have a bunch of talent such as Adam Zack and Jordan Speith.
