Foresight launches Link-Enabled Technology to help course management
Foresight has been known as a leader in launch monitors for decades and you will see GC Quad units all over the driving ranges at tour events. Foresight launch monitors are also used by fitters for their accurate data and golfers to simulate accurate golf rounds indoors. But what do you do with all the data that these Foresight launch monitors collect and display? How can you get all of that to help you shoot better scores on the golf course? Well Foresight now has an amazing way to easily translate what you do on the launch monitor to help you hit better shots on the course.
With Link-Enabled technology, you are able to take your time and work on a Foresight launch monitor and use it on your Bushnell laser rangefinder or GPS app to help you manage your shots on the course. Foresight developed an easy-to-use MyBag assessment app that you run through and hit three shots with each one of the clubs in your bag. This assessment uploads to your Foresight account and links directly with your Bushnell account.
“This is an eye-opening technological advancement for amateur golfers who don’t have regular access to caddies that can deliver expert course management advice,” said Chris Watters, Head of Commercial, Foresight Sports and Bushnell Golf. “Everyone who’s used a laser rangefinder knows how to get a number, but they don’t always know how to use that information because that data has not been tailored to their actual performance, and knowing yardage to the pin is just one part of the club selection equation. LINK-Enabled technology takes guesswork and bravado out of choosing a club, building confidence by transforming a ranged distance into a club recommendation.”
The MyBag assessment looks at the shot data you produced to take into account your carry distance and shot shape for use on the course. When you start up your Bushnell Link-Enabled laser rangefinder or GPS app they will recommend the correct club for each shot. Now that sounds simple, and it isn’t, but both units take it a step further adding temperature, wind, altitude, slope, and shot shape patterns into the algorithm that recommends a club to you. The system is so detailed that it will also recommend clubs that will get you the front or back of the green in order to put you in the best position to score well.

I was able to go through the MyBag assessment and play a round with a Bushnell rangefinder, as well as the Bushnell app, and it was very impressive. The MyBag assessment was easy and thankfully allowed you to delete shots in order to get three that represented each club correctly. It was interesting to see that during a recent fitting, I found my 4 and 5-iron were only about 5 yards different and the MyBag assessment showed the exact same issue! Once that was done I went to the course, and it was very humbling to see the recommendations and that I might need to hit an extra club, or two, when going into some of the elevated greens. But after all of that the system works and is very accurate and easy to use. There were a few shots where the wind or some other condition would make you change to a different club than suggested, but overall, it was correct. The GPS app also gives golfers some great bird’s eye views of where you would likely hit your shot and lets you change clubs or aim at a better spot to get the best outcome.

The Foresight GC3S launch monitor bundle, including the Bushnell Golf Pro X3 Link laser rangefinder, is currently available for $3,799. The first year of the Foresight software subscription is included in the purchase price, as is one year of access to GSPro. The software gives you club and ball data from the GC3S launch monitor, FSXPro simulator, and the MyBag assessment program.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

What if I don’t have a Foresight LM? Will Bushnell have a smart version with manual programming? BTW, noticed your 8 iron isn’t really working. I had the same issues with my ZX7. Hope the new Blueprint S 8 iron works a little better, haha.

All of this tech being added to the Bushnell app and yet, you can only keep one person’s score. Seems like fixing some of the easy stuff would be a better start than integrating a range finder into it.
