TaylorMade launches Spider Tour X Proto putter in limited-release

Published

on

TaylorMade has today unveiled the release of its new limited-run Spider Tour X Proto putter which features forward CG and a milled face.

Originally a Tour exclusive, the Spider Tour X Proto features a rare design that is meticulously crafted to shift the center of gravity (CG) as far forward as possible, while preserving the True Path Alignment and structural stability of the Spider franchise.

Deliberate weight distribution places the CG in a forward position in design for increased face rotation (similar to a blade) while still maintaining stability and control during the putting stroke. This fusion of material and CG placement also aims to provide a unique advantage to golfers who prefer blade-like performance without compromising forgiveness.

Precision-engineered weights aim to create optimal stability and pinpoint swing weighting for enhanced consistency, while the brand’s True Path Alignment system is designed to help you visualize the ideal line to the hole while matching club face to the path.

Spotted: All-Fit Universal adapter in Ben Willman’s driver

Published

on

Almost every driver on the PGA Tour has an adjustable hosel, and every manufacturer has its own design for how it works. This makes swapping shafts and heads impossible as one company’s adapter won’t fit in another’s driver head. There are a few universal hosel systems out there that fitters use to allow any shaft on their wall to be used in any driver head they carry.

One of the emerging universal systems out there is All-Fit, and not only are their adapters universal, but they also allow you to adjust the loft of your driver. Ben Willman seems to be one of the first to use All-Fit in a PGA Tour event as he has it in his Ping G430 LST driver.

All-Fit consists of three easy-to-use parts to install and use. First is the shaft adapter that is installed like any other OEM tip and offers three degrees of loft adjustment (1.5 degrees up or down) and flat or upright settings.

The second part is a new screw for your driver that works with the All-Fit tip and replaces the hosel screw that it came with. If you are using a TaylorMade head then you can skip this step as All-Fit uses the same size and thread.

Finally, there is a small sleeve that slides onto the All-Fit shaft tip and fits the hosel of the driver you are playing. Each sleeve is designed to not only fit the internal hosel geometry but they are also different heights in order to keep the overall driver length that same from head to head.

It is pretty interesting to see Ben using this system in his gamer driver out on tour. Willman has his Ping G430 LST 9-degree head set to -1.5 degrees on the All-Fit sleeve with a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Blue 60 TX shaft installed. The build is finished off with a Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip.

Breakthrough Golf Technology launches new RedZNE wedge shafts

Published

on

When you think of high-end, multi-material golf equipment, wedge shafts might not be the first idea that your brain conjures up. Breakthrough Golf Technology (BGT) is the company that has been pushing the limits of multi-material shafts, starting with the Stability line of putter shafts that are used at all levels in golf.

BGT then released the original ZNE wedge shafts two years ago that consisted of a carbon upper section and a steel tip section. This construction was utilized to add stability, consistency, and add spin to your wedge shots.

BGT didn’t sit still, went back to work on the ZNE shafts, and is now ready to release the newest version, RedZNE. The biggest difference to me in the new shaft is the tip section is now carbon fiber, whereas the original ZNE was crafted from steel.

RedZNE’s new carbon tip section will provide lower launch and and a flatter trajectory for improved distance control and offering players the ability to more easily hit different shots. The carbon fiber upper tube has also been redesigned with a new material to make that section 54 percent more stiff than the previous ZNE shaft.

BGT claims that the new RedZNE shafts offer 50-percent better accuracy due to additional spin that the shaft produces. Finally, the connector that brings both the tip and upper section has been engineered to ensure better weight distribution that should increase the feel of the shafts.

Breakthrough Golf Technology will offer the new RedZNE shafts in the same 90, 115, and 130-gram options to work well with the most popular iron shafts.
