10 interesting products from the 2022 PGA Merch. Show

Published

on

Last week, GolfWRX was on site for the golf business’s annual winter rite: the PGA Merchandise Show.

While the weather wasn’t exactly ideal for demo day, there were no such difficulties inside the Orange County Convention Center.

As usual, we have several jam-packed galleries for you to check out in our forums, with plenty of fun, exciting and creative products on show.

You can check out the galleries at the end of the post, and here we’ll highlight 10 of the most interesting products that turned our heads at the event.

Golfzon

These high precision golf simulators feature some high-tech features, including:

  • A Moving Swing Plate that allows players to hit shots anywhere on the multi-surface hitting mats. The Moving Swing Plate’s accommodates 360 degrees of directional movement to provide real-world play by simulating course slopes from tee box to the putting green.
  • Auto Tee-up automatically collects and dispense golf balls for each shot, with tee heights being adjustable so that it can be positioned at the right height for the driver every time.
  • Multi-surface Hitting Mats with three types of hitting mats, each portraying fairway, rough, and sand bunker conditions provide a realistic simulation of a real golf course.

Urquhart Golf Club

How about playing an entire 18 holes of golf using just one club? Well, with the Urquhart club, you can now do just that.

The Urquhart is an adjustable loft golf club that can transform into clubs between putter and lob wedge in 2 seconds with a simple adjustment.

Exputt

Exputt RG uses a high-speed camera and innovative tracking software to track your swing mechanics and ball movement.

Users can roll out the putting mat and plug in the high-speed camera, allowing them to be on their favorite course green in no time. From beginners to pros and every level in between, the Exputt RG allows players to make long-term improvements to their short game and is compact and easy to carry, meaning it can be used anywhere that there’s a TV.

Rookie Rookie Laser Putter

The double laser projected from the head of this training putter is designed to vastly improve putt targeting.

Constructed with a powerful stainless head body, special coating technology, and Shark Semi-Pistol Grip, this training putter is used in the following way:

  1. After you address your putt, press the button on the grip to activate the laser guideline.
  2. Release the button to deactivate the laser, and perform your stroke.
  3. Repeat the process and actively correct your address position.

WhyGolf’s Pressure Plate

With the help of WhyGolf’s Pressure Plate, players will learn when and by how much to shift their weight during their swing.

Shifting your weight in a swing is important, but it’s hard to know when and by how much. The Pressure Plate tips only when a user shifts their weight correctly, be it on a chip, pitch, or full swing.

WellPutt’s Big Tilt

The BigTilt is a complete putting training solution that provides a player with the opportunity to develop the “Make-it-mindset” by training feel and vision on various slopes from 0% to 5% alongside a Well-line projection system that projects 3 different lines of break according to 3 different speeds.

In addition, through the BigTilt Pro training App a player can access a plethora of putting drills and exercises that challenge them to develop further the 3 key pillars of successful putting: Technique, Feel and Performance.

Golf Skate’s Caddy Tourer

The innovating GSC Tourer allows players to experience a faster-paced game, with players able to ‘ride the turf’ cruising to their own ball without waiting for their co-player as in a traditional golf cart. The GSC Tourer also charges quickly and efficiently making it green.

Alignment Ball Mark

The Alignment Ball Mark combines a two-spike ball marker attached to a rotating alignment component. The ball mark has the ability to read putts while adjusting the alignment without compromising the ball’s position on the green.

The alignment component (top part) rotates 360 degrees in both directions, and the tool is designed to comply with the rules of the USGA.

4 Yards More Tees

4 Yards More is a tee that is designed to, well, do just that. The most played tee on the Champions Tour promises added distance and accuracy and fully conforms to the rules of the USGA and R&A. The tees have been involved with wins at the Senior British Open, Pebble Beach and the U.S. Women’s Open.

MotoCaddy’s S1 Electric Trolley

The easy-to-use S1 combines styling with a high-resolution, anti-glare LCD screen. Features include Adjustable Distance Control and a USB charging port to make the most of your tech while you play, and it’s ideal for golfers looking for an easy-to-use and impressively featured entry-level trolley.

Is the Urquhart adjustable club even legal? What about the rule against changing the characteristics of a club mid-round?

40-45 years ago my father had an adjustabie club very similar to the Urquhart. If I remember correctly,it needed an allen wrench to adjust the loft. I actually learned to putt using it.

Toulon Golf collaborates with Valhalla Golf Club for latest Small Batch putter

Published

on

Toulon Golf has today officially announced its latest Small Batch putter — the Valhalla.

Discussing the putter, Preston Toulon of Toulon Golf said: “This putter is a collaboration with the club at Valhalla and incorporates three of the many things that make the state of Kentucky great – horseracing, bourbon and championship golf. The head of the putter and headcover have several allusions to a jockey’s silk and there are thoroughbreds on the sole.”

Inspired by Toulon’s classic tri-sole Santa Monica design, the company sought to modernize the profile and design leveraging its 904 stainless steel and 6061 aircraft aluminium across the sole. Toulon describes the Valhalla’s profile as “slightly oversized blade whose proportions are meticulously balanced to maintain the look and feel of the Santa Monica, while increasing the putter’s inertia to create one of the most forgiving putters we have ever designed.”

Throughout numerous prototypes, Toulon paid particular attention to the L-neck, with its full shaft of offset, adding a bit of length for better blending with the slightly wider and longer blade.

On the rear of the putter are homages to horse racing in the form of jockey silk diamonds and Churchill Downs-inspired font.

The sole of the putter features a large cavity covered by a 6061 aircraft aluminum sole plate. According to Toulon, this allowed for the addition length to the putter and improved inertia as well as moving more mass to the perimeter for greater forgiveness.

In another nod to Valhalla, Toulon uses a milled watermarked limestone pattern, a reference to stone featured widely on the property.

As with all the Toulon Small Batch putters, the team paid particular attention to the topline thickness and radius to achieve a desired look. “Soft yet crisp was the design intent,” according to the company.
