Is there a strong, forgiving 3-wood off the tee? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing strong, forgiving 3-woods off the tee. WRXer ‘Slantsflood’ is on the hunt for more consistency off the tee and reaches out to fellow members who have been sharing their suggestions in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Sandy cheeks: “I have a 13.5 Mavrik max with Fujikura fuel, and it’s easily the most forgiving and straightest 3 wood I have ever hit. Very long as well.”
  • greenwavegolfer: “Ping G400 Stretch 3W.”
  • Aviador Naval: “Original Ping Rapture 3 wood (14 deg) can be had for ~$60 on eBay if you are patient. Absolutely awesome alternate tee club. Some look pretty closed at address so make sure you see it from the address position.”
  • Tiptx1122: “Well yes there is as I own a Ryoma F2 13* F2 3w best 3w I’ve ever own. Very forgiving and just as long as a lot of drivers out there off the Tee.”

If the 3 wood in question is going to be used for tee only, then the most forgiving “3 wood” is a high lofted short shafted driver with some lead tape or heavier weight inserts to bring it back to swing weight. If your not hitting it off the turf, why not just get the largest head you can?…
