Best blade for 2020/2021 – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing the best blade irons from the new releases. WRXer ‘hypergolf’ asks for opinions on what blade iron has stood out from the rest this year and our members have been having their say in our forums.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Chuck905: “Taylormade P7MB surprisingly stands out to me. Sharp looks and solid feel. Performance is consistent.”
  • Golfingfanatic: “Miura Giken TB-Zero.”
  • bladehunter: “Domestic It’s blueprint. And it’s not close. Mp20 has very smallish short irons. Similar to 6 iron shape. Which are odd. You need taller faces, in my opinion, for scoring clubs. My least favorite Mizuno MB in a while. Mp5 and mp68 being the best recent ones. But I’d second the TB-zero above for all markets.”
  • Nard_S: “High end, like the TB Zero. Average pricing, really like the P7. The TB offers a bunch of custom options that go beyond stamping and lie/loft, and they are Miura’s, which is never a bad thing. The P7 has a clean, unique look, love the 3D diamond muscle, minimal offset and stance. I could buy those tomorrow; I could buy the TB for a “I’m special” occasion which perhaps is never, lol.”
  • The_Champ: “Ping blueprint… and it’s not even close.”

Hideki Matsuyama testing new Piretti putter at the Memorial

Published

on

Hideki Matsuyama is testing an all-new blade ahead of this week’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, less than two months after winning the 2021 Masters.

The Japanese star used a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS at Augusta but could change things up this week with a new Piretti blade which you can see below (as well as its awesome headcover.)

Here’s what our members have been saying about the potential change-up from Hideki in our forums.

  • Walkerdb7: “Win the masters after a long drought. In the thick of it for 3/4 of the PGA. Change putters… Yup, I get it.”
  • Mookieb10: “That’s 100% awesome.”
  • bjive: “Pretty wide topline. Still an awesome looking putter!”

We’ll keep our eyes peeled to see what putter Matsuyama puts in play for the first round today.

How much do you spend on equipment each year? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing their annual equipment spending habits. WRXer ‘Shanker84′ says he has spent far too much over the past few years and wants to see if fellow members’ spending is comparable – with plenty of different buying strategies displayed.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • MtlJeff: “On average now, maybe 2000-3000$ Canadian. I’ll get a new driver every year plus a hybrid or 3 wood usually. Every couple of years new irons. It probably averages out to 2000-2500.”
  • MelloYello: “It’s fair to say I’ll spend a minimum of about $500 updating something in a given year. The more I play, the more likely it is I spend money tweaking something. Last year I played a lot. By the end of the year, I had swapped driver and irons. This year, I’m thinking about my 3w and my wedges. Not sure either will get replaced, though.”
  • ChipNRun: “Every four years or so, I will spend maybe $600 on clubs. In between, it’s maybe $150-200 or so for a new club or wedge. But, I can usually get a little trade-in or resale $$ for the item replaced. This summer, I will need to replace a rangefinder I lost at a local amateur event – no one turned it in.”
  • Haber: “This year has been an anomaly. Up until a month ago, nothing in my bag was replaced. The lefty phantom x5.5 changed that. I’m a recovering club addict. I went through 4 sets of irons and 3 drivers in the 2 years prior. I’d consider only $600 this year a win… the ping i59’s do look reallllly nice, though.”
