Fujikura Ventus hybrid shafts (GolfWRX exclusive first look)
After much anticipation and speculation, Fujikura is bringing the VeloCore technology from its highly popular line of Ventus wood shafts to hybrids and utilities with the launch of the all-new Ventus HB.
The new Ventus HB shafts are available in both Blue (mid-launch) and Black (low-launch) profiles as well as a large variety of weights to fit any golfer. They also utilize Fujikura’s proprietary VeloCore Technology to offer extreme stability, to help reduce dispersion and offer greater control.
Fujikura on VeloCore
Our multi-material bias core construction delivers ultimate stability through transition and impact (maximizing clubhead MOI) – increasing velocity and smash factor. The multi-material core is crafted with full-length, ultra-high modulus Pitch 70 Ton Carbon Fiber for ultimate stability, and incredible feel.
What this really means is VeloCore technology, which contributes to the shaft’s extremely low torque tip section helps in reducing the amount of clubhead twisting created from off-center hits. Any shot where the ball is not hit directly on the sweet spot results in some amount of clubhead twisting and what the engineers of Fujikura have discovered—thanks to the help of Enso – 3D motion capture system—is that creating extra tip stability can result is much tighter dispersion.
This type of stability is just as important in hybrids and utility irons as it is in wood shafts because these clubs are using in a variety of situations, whether it be off the tee or out of the rough.
Considering the ever-growing popularity of hybrids along with driving iron utility clubs, the Ventus HB is a welcome line extension.
Specs, Price, and Availability
The Fujikura Ventus hybrid shafts will be available starting September 1 for the Ventus Blue, and September 15th for the Ventus Black. They will retail for $200 each in both profiles.

From the Forums: I need more forgiveness in my irons – Looking for recommendations
In our forums, our members have been discussing the most forgiving irons currently on the market. WRXer ‘TheShark1’ is on the hunt for a new set of irons, saying:
“Currently gaming the Mizuno Pro 225’s but think I need more forgiveness in my irons. My well struck shots are real nice, but my mishits are not performing as good as I had hoped anymore. I really like hollow body irons so if I could find something more forgiving in a hollow body iron that would be great.
Open to any and all recommendations other than Ping. Can’t hit Ping irons at all.”
And our members have been sharing their best suggestions in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- AvidSwampThing66: “Another vote for the super forgiving and fast Paradym irons. They look really good for being a GI iron.”
- bobfoster: “I just went from MP20 MMCs to the new 245s in my scoring irons (just played my first round with them today). If you have a chance to try them, you might find them worth a serious look.”
- vman: “Shoot me down, but spend the money on lessons.”
- J_Tizzle: “i525s are great off the heel in my opinion.”

I have been a big fan of the Ventus series before the original release of the wood shafts. I will be testing the these over the next three days. My first desire is to put one in a SIM Max #3 (set at 18*)Hybrid. I have an Atmos Black Tour Spec Stiff in my SIM Max #4 (21.5*) and I love it, I can hit high shots with a fairly steep decent that stops very well with fantastic overall distance. Now it will be great to see how the Ventus does with a stronger club. if it does too well I may have to drop my SIM 5 wd which I really like also (or just carry 15 clubs at least when I can!) More to come.

How much would you tip the Ventus Blue for a 19* hybrid? Thanks
