WRX Spotted: Matthew Fitzpatrick’s custom Bettinardi

Published

on

For many professionals, the putter is the one club they keep through thick and thin, whether it be the same model putter or general design, some players can go entire careers without switching.

In what appears to be a very unique case this week, Matthew Fitzpatrick looks to have put into play a brand new putter from Bettinardi Golf that is almost an exact match down to the face grooves to his previous Yes! Golf Tracy II.

To give you some history on the now-defunct Yes! brand, Yes! Golf and its patents/IP were included in the deal when TaylorMade purchased Adams in 2012. It was after that point no new Yes! products were ever sent to retail and the company has sat idle to this day.

We reached out to Sam Bettinardi, EVP of Bettinardi Golf, to get the inside scoop on the origin and the process of making this putter for the Englishman.

Here’s what Bettinari said

“When we work with PGA Tour players, who are the most discriminate minds in the game of golf, they have extremely specific requests. Due to our ability to craft everything in house with exacting tolerances/specifications, we honored Matt Fitzpatrick’s request by duplicating his current gamer.”

“Matt was struggling to find backups for his putter he has been using since high school because his old company is not in business anymore. He wanted to work with us, because he knew we could make this request happen. To have a player like Matt, 24th in the world and a very solid putter overall, feel comfortable to switch from a putter he’s used since he’s been 16, is a testament to our craft and we feel privileged to have his trust to get it done.”

I’m surprised more Pro’s are not gaming Bettinardi putters. They are milling experts, probably the best in the industry. Their products prove that fact.
