Forum Thread of the Day: “Funky equipment in the bag?”

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from AbSWFPGA who asks WRXers if they currently have any equipment in the bag that has been tinkered with and that would be considered unorthodox. From shaft choices to head changes, and much more, our members share the different club experiments that have worked best for them.

  • dcopp7: “I assembled up a 5W at 42.5″ out of a thrifted Taylormade head and an Apollo shaft. Sandblasted the head and play it raw.”
  • strug’=a’ling: “My irons are a little bit funky in a stealth way. The lofts were too strong for the length, so I went with the very rare longer/flatter ploy. The numbered irons are all ½” long and two degrees flat. The 43W is ¼” long and 1½º flat. The 48W and 53W are standard length and just 1º flat. This makes them a little closer to my old DCI 962s.”
  • rtmhunter: “Ping ISI K 2 & 3 irons with factory senior graphite shafts. I can’t hit woods straight or good, so I use these as my “driving” clubs. 4,5,6,7 irons TM MCGB with graphite. 8,9,PW,AW,SW Cobra F9 one length with graphite. 60 Callaway sure out and a Cameron & Crown Newport. Weird make up but, works well for me. I have a lot of fun playing with these. I still have room for any other weird old club I might find on eBay with this set up as well.”
