SPOTTED: Project X HZRDUS Green Smoke and Riptide shafts

Published

on

A Project X HZRDUS Green Smoke shaft and an EvenFlow Riptide shaft surfaced in the GolfWRX forums this week from the Genesis Open.

Project X appears to again be expanding its popular HZRDUS line, and it looks like there could be another new Smoke series shaft being added to the line up to compliment the Yellow and Black. If you recall, the last time the Green color was used was on the T1100 HZRDUS (a shaft built for the absolute fastest players). And if things continue the way they have in the past, this could mean we are getting a smoother feeling Smoke T1100 or something like it in the near future.

Also easy to spot, the new “Small Batch” logo that seems to be a replacing the original “Hand Crafted.” Insider information has it these new “Small Batch” shafts are made with the rest of the line up in the overseas Project X production facility BUT are limited to 50 shafts at a time and built by a select group to keep tolerances to a very tight spec.

Also spotted this week: the EvenFlow (insert your favorite Pearl Jam joke) RipTide. Could this be a Vance Joy-Pearl Jam mash-up…sorry bad music joke.

Anyway, the EvenFlow has proven to be a huge winner on tour and with consumers thanks to its smooth feel and multiple profiles to choose from. What Riptide really means for the lineup we have no idea, BUT according to Collins dictionary, “A riptide is an area of sea where two different currents meet or where the water is extremely deep. Riptides make the water very rough and dangerous.”

If we take from that and throw it into the brainstorm machine, what this could mean for the EvenFlow lineup is a bend profile change or at least an evolution with the addition of the Riptide. Could mean we see a deeper EI curve or a steeper one?

We expect to know more in the coming weeks.

Getting the feeling they’re simply watering down the line to make some fast cash before the novelty of the word HZRDUS dies off.

Looks more like an NV now than a Px.
