Spotted: Two new Toulon prototypes, PDX and Memphis

Published

on

On Monday at the 2017 Wyndham Championship, we spotted a new Toulon “PDX Proto” putter on the putting green at Sedgefield CC. Then, on Tuesday, the company unveiled a Memphis prototype that displayed a flow neck, which differs from the hosel design featured in the stock model.

Will these putters make it to the market, or are they Tour-only prototypes? Here’s what Toulon has to say:

“Toulon Design has been a popular choice on Tour this year, and we’re constantly testing prototype models with Tour Pros to get their feedback,” said the company in a statement. “These are prototype putters, and working with them will help give us insight from a player’s perspective.”

What GolfWRXers are saying about easy to hit fairway woods

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing easy to hit fairway woods. WRXer ‘Gary3Aces’ is an older golfer on the hunt for a fairway wood that is easy to hit with good launch characteristics, saying

“I’m 69 and have been having trouble hitting my fairway woods. I have an M6 TM 5 wood which I like, but I’m still having trouble getting it up high in the air. Looking for a 4 or 5 wood.

I use a regular flex shaft in my clubs. Don’t have the swing speed I use to have. Looking for something that won’t break the bank.”

And our members have been sharing their choices in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • Hairpie: “I’ve had success with a Callaway Steelhead XR 5W. It has a deeper face than most but is extremely easy to elevate. I got mine from Callawaygolf pre-owned a month ago for $80 in mint condition.”
  • Drewhill44: “Cobra f8 or f9. Both have a low profile to help get the ball airborne, and the rails help with turf interaction.”
  • Markrip: “Adams Tight Lies 2. I’ve had mine since it came out. I haven’t found anything easier to get up in the air.”
