Mizuno’s 2018 CLK hybrids
Mizuno has officially launched its new CLK hybrids, which bring back familiar nomenclature from its 2010 MP-CLK hybrids — “Cleek” is a historic name for a driving iron, and that reference was confirmed by Mizuno.
As we recently saw on the PGA Tour, the CLK hybrids have “Wave Technology” in the sole behind the face by way of a speed slot that uses geometry to develop more energy transfer at impact. While this speed slot has a similar look to the JPX-900 hybrids they replace, the CLK hybrids have an initial wave with “larger amplitude” to produce more ball speed than the older model, according to Mizuno.
Like the JPX-900 hybrids, the CLK hybrids are made with 1770 maraging steel faces that use the strong material to make its faces thinner. The new hybrids, however, are built to move the center of gravity (CG) lower and closer to the face. This shift in CG location will help encourage a higher launch and lower spin for golfers, according to Mizuno.
Four different loft options are available, but each of the hybrids has an eight-way adjustable hosel to help golfers dial in the loft and lie angle they prefer.
Mizuno’s new CLK hybrids, which will integrate into the company’s Performance Fitting Program to help golfers customize their full-bag setups, will come stock with Fujikura Speeder Evolution shafts and Golf Pride M31 360 grips. They will sell for $249 starting on September 15.

Probably the best hybrid i’ve hit. Solid weight to get through the rough, and the simulator had it going a very consistent distance.
