WATCH: Fan filming Bud Cauley blasted by golfer’s punch shot
“Friend of a friend having a great time at the Byron Nelson @PGATOUR until @BudCauley comes thru,” tweeted a gentleman by the name of Devin Grainger.
Indeed. And we assume that “friend” has a sizeable welt on his chest after an unfortunate encounter with Bud Cauley’s golf ball.
As originally reported by Golf News Net, Cauley missed the ninth green at the Byron Nelson, his ball landing in some thick roughage. A fan was filming Cauley (illegally, of course) as the Alabama alum weighed his options, eventually hacking his golf ball out… and directly into the amateur Spielberg’s chest.

We asked Grainger if the friend of a friend was OK via Twitter, and he reported Cauley’s victim is “doing just fine.”
Cauley (who retweeted the video) went on to record a double-bogey six on the hole and finished tied for fourth. The unfortunate cameraman? Well, he’ll probably choose a less risky angle for his next cinematic endeavor.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.
For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- btyh: “Holy offset.”
- Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
- bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing
As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.
Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.
What happens when 4 #PGATOUR pros take a day off?
Luckily, the cameras were rolling.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

This what you get when you sell cheap 1 day tickets. Golf tournaments should only sell week passes to keep out the morons.

I’m sure the tour is too scared to lose galleries by being too punitive on cell phone use, but it would be nice to see them crack down. It’s annoying that caddies have to do it when there are marshals lined up all around. People would enjoy life a lot more if they looked up from their “digital devices” more often. Why bother going to a tournament only to stare at your little screen the whole time? Enjoy the experience for what it is – your awful quality videos and photos will not have the lasting significance that the tech companies want to convince you of.
people are stupid

Serves him right for standing in the line of fire. I hope Cauley autographed the welt on his chest.

As Nelson Muntz would say, “HA HA!” Even worse, he was shooting vertical video. Turn your phone sideways!

You are not much of a golfer yourself if you station yourself between the shot and the hole. What an idiot. If you play golf you know that shot could be hit slightly off line. And you know it’s gonna be zinging! I am in agreement with the vertical camera/phone thing. My evening news features lots of citizen-recorded video… about 90% are vertical, and they have to “fuzz out” the sides of the screen.
Oh, and while I’m on my rant, I love the galleries about 280 yards off the tee when Jason Day or Jordan Speith are driving. Not even watching and they’re hit by the ball. I thought we went to pro tournaments to “watch” the golf… not chat or check text messages…

1.) Put your camera away unless they have started to allow them
2.) QUIT WITH THE VERTICAL VIDEO MORON. Search youtube for Vertical Video Syndrome – it is a thing you know.
