Ecco Cage Evo member testing

post-1164-0-66365100-1462384839

GolfWRX is looking for a few good testers to try out the yet-to-be-released ECCO CAGE EVO before it’s available.

ABOUT THE ECCO CAGE EVO

Part of the CAGE family, ECCO CAGE EVO offers the same fully-integrated DiP wrap system and remarkably comfortable fit with a new, customized upper. Crafted from multi-material performance textile, the upper is bonded with webbing made from a customized PU specifically made for use on CAGE EVO. This delivers outstanding protection from tears and abrasion.

Additional properties include:

  • Unique, one-piece, DiP stability cage that wraps from the heel through the midsole and across the toe box
  • Anatomical outsole design that aligns and moves in unison with the foot’s essential ligaments and muscles
  • ECCO Freedom Fit combining a snug heel setting with a roomier forefoot area that allows toes to move naturally
  • Exceptionally water-repellant via the proprietary ECCO HYDROMAX™ treatment
  • Lightweight, low-to-the-ground construction and the CHAMP SLIM-Lok cleat system.

James Hahn’s custom Cameron

In addition to the several threads of “general” range photos each week, Greg Moore, our Tour Photographer, usually manages to put together a couple of additional threads of “specifically” cool stuff. For example, this week, Greg snagged some in-hand shots of James Hahn’s custom one-off Scotty Cameron Roundback.

Takes on Adidas shopping TaylorMade

TM_MFamily_Marquee_v1-1021x580

News broke yesterday that Adidas is looking to unload TaylorMade. As we wrote,” The Adidas Group has made its plans for TaylorMade Golf very clear. It “will actively seek a buyer for the remainder of its golf business, which mainly consists of the TaylorMade brand, as well as the Adams and Ashworth brands.”

“The announcement came in Adidas’ 2016 Quarter 1 earnings report, which was rosey for the German athletic apparel company. Currency-neutral sales increased 22 percent in Q1, with accelerating momentum in both the Adidas and Reebok brands. TaylorMade, on the other hand, saw currency-neutral revenues decrease 1 percent.”

There are no shortage of comments on the front-page article. However, if you want to see the entirety of the discussion on GolfWRX, you have to visit the related forum thread.

Debate: Rather win an Olympic gold medal or The Players Championship?

The_Players_Club

PGA Tour pros put the Olympic gold medal in their order of priority in the Golf.com Anonymous Pro survey, as we reported in our 10 highlights from the survey.

For the pros, 62 percent preferred a Players title to a gold medal, while 76 percent would want a gold medal rather than a more minor tournament, such as the Texas Open.

Interestingly, WRX forum users were already trying to position the gold medal in order of esteem, asking the same question late last week.

Check out the thread to see what they had to say.

Tell us why you play old clubs

We’ve discussed playing “outdated” clubs in the past in FTF. Interestingly, 70sSanO tried hitting his irons from the 80s against a set from 2007 and found, perhaps not surprisingly, that the more recent set performed much better for him.

This inspired him to ask the question: Why does anyone, senior golfers in particular, choose to play “outdated” clubs? The discussion is a great, and the thread is one you’ll want to check out if you’ve ever wondered the same thing.

I play old clubs because that’s all I can afford when new high-tech balls cost $50

What’s the perfect mini-driver/shaft combo? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Mini-Drivers and accompanying shafts. WRXer ‘JamesFisher1990’ is about to purchase a BRNR Mini and is torn on what shaft weight to use, and our members have been sharing their thoughts and set ups in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • PARETO: “New BRNR at 13.5. Took it over to TXG (Club Champ but TXG will always rule) in Calgary for a fit. Took the head down to 12, stuck in a Graphite Design AD at 3 wood length and 60g. Presto- numbers that rivaled my G430Max but with waaaaay tighter dispersion. Win.”
  • driveandputtmachine: “Still playing a MIni 300.  The head was only 208, so I ordered a heavier weight and play it at 3 wood length.  I am playing a Ventus Red 70.   I play 70 grams in my fairways.  I use it mainly to hit draws off the tee.  When I combine me, a driver, and trying to hit a draw it does not work out well most of the time.  So the MIni is for that. As an aside, I have not hit the newest BRNR, but the previous model wasn’t great off the deck.  The 300 Mini is very good off the deck.”
  • JAM01: “Ok, just put the BRNR in the bag along side a QI10 max and a QI10 3 wood. A load of top end redundancy. But, I have several holes at my two home courses where the flight and accuracy of the mini driver helps immensely. Mine is stock Proforce 65 at 13.5, I could see a heavier shaft, but to normal flex, as a nice alternative.”

Why Ludvig Aberg is my new favorite player – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing one of the new sensations in the world of golf – Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old finished solo second at the Masters a couple of weeks ago, and gained many plaudits, including from several WRXers.

One member, RoyalMustang, took to the forums to explain why Aberg is now their favorite player, saying:

“I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like “well, that’s golf!” Loose and relaxed: that’s the way to play. It’s obvious he loves what he’s doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all.

Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore.”

And our members have been reacting and sharing their positive takes on the young Swede.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • redfirebird08: “Ludvig has a great attitude, a great smile, and a great golf swing.”
  • otto6457: “I’m very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech.  He’s a truly nice guy and very friendly.  Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling. Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy.  He has “that sound” and trajectory to die for.  There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind.  World class ball striker. And yes……..I am a fan boy.”
  • konklifer: “I like him. In an era of endless waggles and laboring, his swing and pace of play are a joy to watch.
