Here’s a peek behind the curtain into golf’s sanctuary.

Want to test the new Mitsubishi KURO KAGE Black TiNi shaft in your driver? Sure you do!

Mitsubishi is looking for five testers from the GolfWRX community to try the shaft and report on their findings. How does one qualify for this fantastic opportunity?

Why, you do the following in the forum thread here.

Don’t forget…

Jordan Spieth’s 3 wood says 15 degrees, but it’s adjusted to have 16.5 degrees of loft.

In addition to the several threads of photos taken by our staff photographer at Tour events (such as the clubs Jordan Spieth is playing this week), there is a corresponding discussion thread for forum readers to discuss who’s playing what and marvel at the gratuitous wealth of equipment players have at their disposal every single week.

Check out this week’s discussion thread for the Deutsche Bank Championship here.

The perfect 90s/early 2000s golf bag

apex

Here’s a good one.

This thread, started by user freddy1682…well, we’ll just let freddy take if from here…

“As I sit here watching Tin Cup for the 345th time tonight, I find myself getting a little nostalgic seeing the equipment they are playing. The days of Jacobsen being a player, not just a comedian, were the most memorable of my golf career thus far. So I’m looking for a little help from my fellow WRX’ers. I want to build the ultimate “throwback” bag. I’m only in my 30’s, so I don’t mean hickory sticks. Clubs like the 962’s, Burner woods, etc. are what I know as classic. Looking to build this bag to play the rest of this short season in Upstate NY. So help please!!”

The replies are predictably fantastic with Macgregor VIP irons, the original Big Bertha, and the 1999 Hogan Apex irons all getting respect. Check it out!

Additionally, any thread that begins “As I sit here watching Tin Cup” has to be good, right?

All the talking heads are doing it…

Started August 18th by ghoul31, this thread is picking up steam and will likely continue to through the Deutsche Bank Championship: “Is Day better than Mcllroy and Spieth?”

With all the pundits weighing in on the subject and manufacturing the faux drama of the Player of the Year debate (there’s no debate at this point, it’s Jordan Spieth), it’s only fitting that WRXers have the same opportunity.

Check out the thread and some good takes therein.

WRXer teed it up with Tom Watson, Zach Johnson!

TheMackDaddy:

“Two months ago my friends and I entered a trickshot contest ran by Transamerica. A month ago, my buddy found out he won. Today, we woke up at 6:30 AM to play a round of golf with Transamerica staffers: Tom Watson, Zach Johnson, and Kyle Stanley.”

So begins an awesome thread that you have to check out. Not only did Mr. MackDaddy and company get to play golf with the three aforementioned pros, but they were treated to a Red Sox/Yankees game at Fenway.

TheMackDaddy’s narrative game is strong, so I don’t want to paraphrase here. “Sponsored experiences” can run the gamut, but it sounds like Transamerica really hit this one out of the park.

Super hot driving irons – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been talking about hot driving irons. WRXer ‘Russian7’ is on the hunt for a driving iron offering maximum ball speed and distance with no spin, and our members have been sharing their picks in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • bcflyguy1: “From word of mouth anecdotes to testing done by other forums, think P790 UDI is as likely as anything to give you what you’re after.”
  • jblough99: “If you don’t mind em with a little junk in the trunk, look at the G425 crossover. Everything I’ve read/seen claims very forgiving and goes forever. No first-hand experience, though.”
  • Luxor54: “The exotics Ti-utility is probably up there.”
  • norsebynorsewest: “Seconded on the PXG 0311X. I play a one iron, and the thing is a utility rocket. It honestly feels like it should be illegal.”

Best Ping irons from the last 5 years – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Ping irons. WRXer ‘LowAndLeft32’ wants to hear what our members believe are the best additions from the brand over the past five years, with the i210 irons proving a popular choice.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • PEI_Golfer: “Hard pressed to beat the i210s.”
  • realmfg: “Blueprints.”
  • eric61: “Love the i210s — they’re easily the answer here, in my opinion. I really liked the i59s, too, but not as much as the i210s, and I think their price point maybe has meant a lot of people didn’t even end up trying them. G-series irons are fine too. If you’re in that segment of the market, the last few years it’s been the latest G irons vs the latest Hot Metals for the top of the pecking order, in my opinion.”
  • Cwhite912: “Easy, I210, Blueprint, iBlade.”

Easiest launching fairway woods – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing easy to launch fairway woods. WRXer ‘Pete52’ hits his woods too low, and our members have been sharing their best picks to solve his problem in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • JKJKJK: “I had the easiest time to elevate from the deck with G425 Max 3Wood/5Wood with Motore F3 shaft. Flies really high and easy to hit.”
  • DoughBack18: “Sim2 Ti. Has a lot of weight on the sole, and you can really launch it high. I’ve always had a slightly lower trajectory, got this in a 5 wood, and it’s worked really nicely filling the gap I had at the top end of my bag.”
  • Valtiel: “Any of the modern Pings are a good litmus test for elevation. If you can’t get those off the ground then you know the problem ain’t the club.”
