U.S. Women’s Open caddie kicked out by USGA

Published

on

There’s some things you shouldn’t do as a caddie. Illegally taking photos of internal notes from the USGA is high on that list.

On Tuesday at the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club, Sei Young Kim’s caddie Paul Fusco was removed by the USGA after taking photographs of a worksheet with possible tournament hole locations, according to a report from Golfweek. Hole locations are not normally released until the day of the event, the USGA said.

Fusco, who has caddied for PGA Tour players Paul Casey, Steve Flesch and Vijay Singh, as well LPGA’s Na Yeon Choi, will not be allowed to caddie at this year’s U.S. Women’s Open.

Kim, a 22-year old LPGA Tour rookie, has won twice so far in 2015 at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic and the LPGA Lotte Championship — each with Fusco on the bag.

Randall Mell from the Golf Channel reports that Steve Shellard will caddie as Fusco’s replacement.

Kim is currently ranked No. 10 on the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, and stands in second on the LPGA money-list through 15 events.

With a new caddy on the bag, she’ll be looking to capture her first LPGA major victory after finishing second at this year’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
