Tiger spotted with a new Nike driver, more equipment changes to come

Published

on

Tiger Woods is set to make his return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge at Isleworth Country Club on Thursday, Dec. 4. According to a Nike representative, he will be using a slew of new clubs at Isleworth, including:

  • Nike’s Vapor Speed prototype driver
  • Nike’s Vapor Speed fairway woods (3 and 5)
  • Nike Vapor Pro blade irons
  • Nike’s 2014 RZN Black golf ball

Tiger was spotted on Monday at the TW Charity Playoffs hitting a “high cut” with what looks to be his new Vapor Speed prototype driver. The video puts to rest any doubts that Tiger will be competing this week, and it seems that his new Chris Como swing allows him to hit high and low cuts at will. But can Tiger hit a draw on command? That’s the shot that’s troubled him for years and will be something to watch at Isleworth and the rest of the 2015 season.

The last time we saw Woods hitting balls was at the 2014 PGA Championship in August, where he limped his way to a missed cut.

How will Tiger Woods play at the Hero World Challenge?

The guy hasn’t switched balls in 7 years. You are the one that is pole-smoking. You pray his mind is still there? It doesn’t seem like you pray for anything

I voted that he will finish last. How are you slurpers logically justifying that he’s just gonna come out and win his first round after being out for awhile? Slow your role folks. He’s not going to win and going to look rusty out there.

Last? on a course he knows pretty damn well. There was a write in vote for people dumb enough to think Tiger will finish last…I put your name down.

Looks like an amateur double-crossing swing. He don’t know which way he wants to hit the ball yet. Strong grip, mind.

That driver swing looks very 1999-2001. A little slower and not as explosive but very similar action.

His left shoe slips a bit, a good sign that he is protecting that knee. Which he needs to do. But I wish he would finish with his weight a bit more forward, looks like he is leaning back at the end which is what causes him to hit those “high-rights” that go to the next hole over, which he desperately needs to avoid.

The ball switch will be the best switch he makes. I switched to Nike RZN ball this year after playing Titleist or Taylormade for the past 5 years, the new Nike balls are the best on the market right now.

The best part of his game is yelling “four right”.

    Tiger is washed up.

    You heard it here first.

New coach, new clubs, new attitude, same old hype and spin.

Glad to see him back on the course. I hope he takes a little of the ‘explosiveness’ off his swing and just gets it in the fairway. I think that would lead to more wins. I hope he does well this and gets back to winning.

I cant wait to see him win again too. But hes not going to beat Rory by “just getting it in the fairway”…

Tiger – try finding a fairway then work on the high or low cut

Isn’t hitting a cut what finds the fairway…?

If you go to the R&A and search nike in the equipment section for conforming clubs. On page 15 about half way down the page is the Driver. Its a Covert Speed version 3, Fixed Long Hosel. Wish i could get my hands on any of the fixed hosel Nike drivers post adjustable only.

Not going to happen unless you know people in the industry and have lots of money to pony up for a trip to the Oven.

Agreed. Would have to wait a few years to get one for sure. Im sure next year or 2 years you might be able to snatch one of these up on here or ebay. I managed to track down a Dymo 380 and VR Tour matte finish. Not gonna hold my breath.

Man it must be IMPOSSIBLE for him to fix his head dropping down on the back swing. He and Notah need to watch more tape of himself in 2000 when his head stayed more level throughout the swing.

Anybody know what shafts he’s using now? Is that some sort of ion-plated Whiteboard in that new driver? Is he still using DG X100’s in the new irons?

    • Justin

      Dec 2, 2014 at 1:52 am

It’s the most recent generation Blueboard. I believe it comes stock on one or two of the Vapor drivers.

You “who cares” guys crack me up. It’s like a race to see who says it first. Obviously there are quite a few people who care for them to keep talking about him.

Funny how much you guys slurp. Grown men groveling and slurping on a another man. Pathetic.

The better question would be why are you here? As obviously you don’t care.

I am most excited for the golf ball change. That Nike One Tour D had to be holding him back. He will definitely contend this week

looks in sync but go at it too hard driver right, gotta use his height to advantage.hands look better back so tilted before, hands too far from body with a driver. He has extra long arms like BUBBA.hard to setup like others.

Surprised that he’s not using the Vapor Pro like rory,

    • brett w

      Dec 1, 2014 at 11:03 pm

definitely looks like the pro but tigers always preferred a smaller head than the 460 cc vapor pro. Probably a 430 or 440 cc vapor pro prototype built just for tiger. Hopefully golf wrx can get some pictures of his equipment this week

        Dec 1, 2014 at 11:42 pm

Ya for sure it is. Just like his Covert 1.0 and 2.0 Prototypes it will have a Fixed Long Hosel which he prefers. Im pretty sure that he has never gamed an Adjustable club of any kind. Im pretty sure because he prefers the looks and the feel of the Fixed Hosel. I know i prefer fixed hosels.

Swing looks good. Free and easy. Hopefully it translates to the course. Looks to be slim as well which actually makes it seem like he’s more flexible also. Swing is longer than when we last saw him.

      Dec 2, 2014 at 12:50 pm

LOL…..you wish dude. He’s been away from competitive golf for a long time. He isn’t just going to magically get his groove back and win the first time he tees off. You’re just like all the other Tiger slurpers here.

Swing looks good. Glad to see he switched balls, that RZN Black is an incredible ball. I switched earlier this year from the Pro V1x, which I’ve played the last 5 years.

I am looking forward to seeing him play on Sunday. I don’t think he’ll contend in the first event back and with his new swing, but I hope he does put on a show.
