Leaked: TaylorMade R15 driver photos
Photos of TaylorMade’s new R15 drivers have leaked, setting our forums on fire.
See what GolfWRX members are saying about the TaylorMade R15 leaked photos in the forums.
It appears the R15 drivers will have two 12.5-gram sliding weights, compared to one 20-gram weight from the SLDR, and will be available in both glossy black and matte white.
Thanks to some graphics from TaylorMade Japan that were released, we can see the company will be sticking with the concept of low-and-forward CG (center of gravity) and will continue encouraging golfers to loft-up for maximum distance.
It also appears that the dual-weight, “front track” system will allow golfers to control CG with 12.5-gram weights to either increase MOI, or change launch characteristics based on the setting they choose.
More information will be available on our front page tonight when the media embargo is lifted for the new products.

I’m so uninterested in this it’s not even funny. It’s become a joke. Same driver different color and an extra weight. WOW!

Thank You Ty – I could not agree with you more. Have I lost my mind or is the new product cycle like every 6 months now. I would argue that one of the reasons for the increase in people quitting the game is this silly product cycle with all the doctored “19 more yard” claims. The club makers have become carnival hucksters – looking for rubes…

Find me one in a 7.5° version and i might give it a go! 24 grams. Nice . Throw a 120 gram shaft in that baby and get down to business! Kind of got away from tmag for a while (face durability issues) but this might bring me back

My thoughts exactly..
Oh if we were only as cool as we were online…
As for the R15, I’m pumped about it and I’m not a TMag fan. I liked the SLDR but unlike most guys on WRX, I don’t hit the center of the face EVERY time. More forgiving SLDR? I’ll game it. “Throw a Tour Spec 8.2 X tipped 2″ and it might handle my 140mph swing speed….”

Anyone else think its kind of funny that you can slide weights simultaneously under the words “draw” and “fade”?
Better sell a manual with each driver with detailed explanations for the average consumer.

Those are pretty ugly looking, I was in Golftown today looking at Mizuno 850 Forged irons and the Manager said the new TMAG RS1 irons are in.
I said no thanks, does anyone ever pay full price for anything they bring out, what do you have 5 generations of TMAG product on the floor.
He looked at me for a second and said actually 6.

I use the sldr as it’s great for me, but can’t see many people purchasing this club,
I’m a Taylor made stockist and sold 2 sldr drivers all year due to the average golfer hitting down on it. 17grams of weight on the sldr and now r15 25grams of weight at the front.
No matter what the average golfer will hit this driver low and right every time even if you set the maximum loft and give them maximum heel weight.

It’s better looking i”ll give them that. Mostly cuz they have a black one. If the CG is still low and forward it’ll still be unforgiving with that Hard sldr feel unfortunately.

The sole looks like it was designed by George Lucas, but I like the black from above.

Nov 13, 2014 at 3:25 pm
SLDR was just a stupid name. Now this was obviously planned to get the R15 for the 2015 season. Still this loft up nonesense. tried it with my 913 and this really sucked – back to 9.5 loft
TR1PTIK
Nov 13, 2014 at 3:51 pm
It didn’t work with your 913 because the center of gravity in a 913 isn’t low and forward the way it is in an SLDR. That being said, it might not help you anyway since low and forward CG reduces MOI/forgiveness.
Waqar
Nov 18, 2014 at 4:04 pm
There is no point in lofting up with a driver head that has CG towards the back. Lofting up will only work if the CG of the club head is low and near the face like in the taylormade Jetspeed, SLDR. Agree SLDR is a bad choice for the name, but it was the number one choice of players who can use drivers that are not made by their sponsors. Luke Donald is an example.

Uber ridiculousness, do they transform into little robots?
I’m telling you, TM needs to start putting flashing lights and sound effects too and start selling their drivers at Toy r Us.

First off: These are not leaked photos. These were obviously prepared for distribution.
Second: Bravo to TMAG….more screws and do-dads than the competition….that has to count for something in the race for your wallet…
In all seriousness though…I really hope this is 20 yards longer than my r9 superdeep….I never picked up all the extra yards over the last 4.5 years.

I can’t imagine this will be much more forgiving than the SLDR but the dual sliding weights seem pretty cool.
Pat
Nov 13, 2014 at 2:13 pm
The SLDR is not forgiving. The sweet spot is located more towards the bottom and it’s the size of a nickel if even that.

Nov 13, 2014 at 1:05 pm

Actually TM released the SLDR in this space of its line, in August of 2013….so more like 18 months….Jet speed and SLDR S are from the other “line” serving as a compliment, not replacement for

you guys have to consider a thing about all those weights, gravity core etc..is this pure marketing or is this a new technology helping average players game? 8-36 handicap players are the 90% of us all.. think about it
