Tiger to open a sports bar in Jupiter

Published

on

Tiger Woods may not currently own his swing, a concept he may strive for without a coach going forward, but he is set to become an owner of a new sports bar and restaurant in South Florida starting in December.

The restaurant and bar, The Woods Jupiter: Sports and Dining Club in Jupiter, Fla., is expected to become one of the hotspots of Jupiter’s new downtown development, Harbourside Place. The sports bar will certainly attract the local PGA Tour-player crowd that lives in Jupiter #JupLife.

“I’ve been watching Harbourside Place’s development since it broke ground more than two years ago, and know that it is the perfect location for my sports and dining club,” Woods said. “I look forward to enjoying my restaurant as much as I hope the public will. I envision a place where people can meet friends, watch sports on TV and enjoy a great meal. I wanted to build it locally where I live and where it could help support the community.”

The Stanford-alumnus is a well-known fan of the Oakland Raiders, L.A. Dodgers and L.A. Lakers, which could clash with the locally supported Miami Heat, Florida Marlins and Miami Dolphins.

The 14-time major champion is certainly hungry for major No. 15, but Woods will apparently resort to eating bar food at his new eatery in the mean time.

The special thing about this bar that stands out is that tipping is frowned upon and discouraged.

Tiger and most all famous people team with someone experienced in the restaurant field. Tiger and his fame for not spending a buck. I would bet he didnt put in the money percentage equal to his ownership percentage. But that being said I am twenty minutes from there, I will check it out

Is Tiger a graduate of Standford? Did he graduate in 2 years or go back to get his degree?

You don’t have to graduate to be considered an alumnus

“Attended Stanford” lacked the ambiguity and “Stanford Dropout” and wouldn’t be as falsely flattering as ‘alumnus’ … a misleadingly accurate designation not unlike labeling your political opponent ‘a known homo sapiens.’

Also, there is no such thing as a Heat, Dolphins and Marlins fan. That area is about as bandwagon as they get. If the Lakers are winning, they will love Tiger’s new Lakers bar.

Just what we need, another athlete with a novel concept of opening a bar & restaurant.

Wedge Stamping Caviar: “The Traditional” Edition

Published

on

Pop open a tin of the finest beluga, GolfWRXers…But really, it’s less jelly-like substance, more richness of intrigue than salt-cured roe at Wedge Stamping Caviar as we present to you some of the finest instances of hammer-and-stamp work on the PGA Tour we spotted over the past couple of weeks.

Grab your mother-of-pearl spoon and dig in — with restraint, please. And be sure to check out the rest of our tour photo galleries when you’re done.

Patrick Reed with a fine articulation of what we’re calling “The Traditional” wedge stamping: First and last initials, usually in white or black.

Here’s The Traditional on Keith Mitchell’s Mizuno T22 wedge as well as a slab o’ wedge tape positioned to raise CG.

Tyler Duncan’s Traditional stamping on his Vokey SM10 also includes a note about head weight in Sharpie.

The Traditional, again, this time for Cam Smith on his Vokey SM10 in Jet Black.

Jason Dufner’s Cobra’s SB wedge bears his initials, JD.

A variation on The Traditional, Lee Hodges’ initials are surrounded by “RTR,” as is usually the case on his wedges — Roll Tide Roll!

Phil Mickelson’s PM Grind wedge has a saucy little 64 stamped on the toe and a slab of lead near the toe peak.

John Rahm’s Callaway Jaws Forged wedge featured the motto of his LIV Golf squad, Legion XIII.

John Daly’s Sub 70 wedge is superb, featuring the logo of his alma mater, the University of Arkansas. WPS!
