Scotty Cameron Opens “Gallery” Putting Studio in Southern California

Published

on

After rumors swirled about it last year, Scotty Cameron has officially opened a putting studio in Encinitas, Calif., which offers tour-style Scotty Cameron putter fittings to the public for the first time in the U.S.

The Gallery will mimic the tour-only, research and development studio in nearby San Marcos where professionals get fit for Cameron putters by Scotty and the company’s staff with latest high-speed video fitting tools.

The putter studio is located just north of San Diego and was a surf shop before undergoing a full-scale remodel to become Cameron’s first standalone retail venture. It will be “part retail space, part high-end product gallery, 100 percent fitting facility,” according to Cameron. Customers will be fit into putters just like the pros have for years with an experience that’s been anticipated by fans, collectors and Cameron himself for some time.

“Opening the Scotty Cameron Gallery is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time.” Cameron said. “I’ve always wanted to have a place open to the public where I can share things that I have created and love. But above all, the Gallery is a place where golfers can come to understand what is happening between the ball, the putter and the player – and how we get those three things to work in harmony.”

Thanks in part to the success of Cameron putters on the professionals tours, which have been used in more than 994 worldwide victories by top-ranked players such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy, Cameron putters have become some of the most sought after clubs in golf.

Cameron’s retail putters currently fetch prices between $299 and $399 in the U.S., but limited-edition and tour-only models often carry four-to-five figure price tags. Cameron crazies willing to dish out that kind of dough, as well as any golfer who’s been longing for the opportunity to get the Scotty Cameron studio experience, will love this opportunity.

Golfers interested in a putter fitting, which are limited and booked by appointment, can visit the Gallery website or call 760-591-9720 to schedule an appointment.

I fail to comprehend this godlike status of Cameron. He basically Took solheim’s designs followed methods already in place from TP mills and tad moore!! Why all the fanfare??

This is cool, but I’m kinda sad that they got rid of a surf shop. So few of them already…

If you can’t break 80 with your current putter, spending over $1000 isn’t going to help. Alignment is the most important thing and alignment is most influenced by the head shape, the lines configuration and ball position. i see people all the time choosing their putter the wrong way. they all try to sink the 20 foot putts on the indoor green. stand 2 feet, don’t line it up from behind, and try to roll it dead center. don’t worry about the speed. then reset and do it again. if you can repeat, you can consider that putter. if its too easy, back it up a little bit.

Always find it funny when people feel the need to judge what people spend their money on. If they can afford it, and they want it, go for it. No sweat off my back.

I think this is pretty cool for people who are into that sort of stuff. Would be an interesting place to check out.

Should I point out that Martin Kaymer uses a Ping Karsten 1959 Anser to make all his putts. List price $89. They fit it for free.
But yeah spending $3000 on a putter is really smart.

$350 just for the putter fitting lol talk about a marketing genius. Put a name brand on something and your perceived value/cost sky rockets. It would be a cool store to check out but what a rip off for just another over priced putter. Not made of any high end materials and other people are capable of reproducing cheaper. Congrats on the store. People really don’t have critical thinking skills nowadays lol.

It’s at that price because he’s been at it for such a long time and have proven on the world stage what his putters can do. He doesn’t need any marketing besides the exposure that his putter get from players. He doesn’t advertise much, so I don’t know what marketing you’re talking about. That price is relative cheap, I think, it’s only the cost of a single putter. I think it’s a very reasonable price for a really cool experience.
Negative Nelly like yourself can go and sit on it and swivel.

Yeah, there’s a tour only lot in the back for an extra $700. It’s not any better parking, but there’s only 2 spots.

would love to visit that shop, aka Gallery. Wonder avout the price tags on shirts etc. Until I play on the tour, don’t see owning a tour rat putter – my California does me well; should invest the time in practicing my 10fts ??

Just called and they are open. Going to head over this PM and take a look. Also sent in a request for fitting and am waiting for a phone call. I don’t have $5K for a tour putter but I certainly want to get fit! Will report back on what I see if I can sneak out of the office.

I’m intrigued, but I wonder if they would have the ability to do the fitting and then sell me a “stock” but to my spec scotty. I love the idea but I’m not one that has $5,000+ for a sweet tour scotty.

    • Scott

      Jul 9, 2014 at 2:56 pm

Yes, they will fit you and then you can have one of the regular Off The Rack Scotty’s fit to those specs or if you already have one they will adjust your current stick if possible. For instance if it’s determined that your stroke is best with a lot of toe hang they can’t fix your face balanced Futura but could sell you a GoLo 3 adjusted to your loft and lie. Cost of the fitting is $350.00. Cost of the putter is in addition to that number.

This is awesome! I live in the area about 5 miles from the studio and can’t wait to get fit! I have been fit for other clubs and it has helped my game tremendously. The putter is the one missing link and I am anxious to learn which Scotty will work best for me.
