Tweets of the week: Stenson, more Dufnering, beards and the wisdom of David Lynn

Published

on

Henrik Stenson’s win at the Tour Championship put a bow on the FedExCup Playoffs and the 2013 PGA Tour season. And although the 2013-2014 PGA Tour season begins in a couple of weeks (new structure, strange, I know), the Tour’s very best will spend the next week with their families enjoying some time off before the Presidents Cup, which begins Oct. 3.

The rest likely have been enjoying a brief break and will continue to do so until the early part of next month. A few golfers—most notably Tiger Woods—struggled to the finish this year, while others—Stenson, Zach Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Steve Stricker—flourished in the dying embers of the 2013 season.

With fall officially upon us, and the main dishes all served on major tours, it’s time to take a look at a somewhat lighthearted, FedEx Cup-concluding edition of Tweets of the Week.

The Tweets

FedExCup and Tour Championship winner Stenson tweeted the following in Swedish. More accurately, he shared a photo posted on his Facebook account. It was the $10 million man’s only weekend/post victory tweet, which is a little strange, as the Swede is a pretty active Twitter-er.

But hey, if I’d just assured myself $10 million, I’d likely be in such a manic state of exuberance that tweeting would be the last thing on my mind. That, or my tweets would look something like: “IWONIWONIWONIWON!!!!!!!!”

Next, a stand-in for all the congratulations champion Stenson received from other pros on Twitter from the account of one of the most active tour tweeters, Ian Poulter. Poulter puts forth what most golf fans have been saying lately: Stenson has been the hottest player in the game as of late.

More Stenson-related stuff: Apparently the Tour champ is buying Coke machines for his buds. Enjoy!

A final tweet regarding the Tour champion from Golf Digest’s Ron Sirak.

If you haven’t seen the video of Keegan Bradley holing out for eagle and the resultant celebratory #Dufnering, the golfer tweeted out the video along with the following.

The FedExCup playoffs are over. And, like all good beards, it was time for Graham DeLaet’s to go following the conclusion of the Tour Championship. The PGA Tour shared his Vine of the de-whiskering process.

The Presidents Cup is just around the corner, and Golf Channel’s Rex Hoggard tweeted this sneak preview of the U.S. team’s unis.

Finally, a bit of philosophic wisdom from the great David Lynn, who made 14 of 22 cuts this year and finished 54th in the FedExCup standings this year, in addition to uploading the best/worst Twitter profile pic of all tour pros.

Over the years, it’s been held at a variety of courses across the Lone Star State, but it’s found its home at TPC San Antonio in recent years. Some of the biggest names in golf have taken home the title here, including Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, and Ben Crenshaw.

GolfWRX has its usual assortment of general galleries, WITBs and special pull-out albums. As always, we’ll continue to update the links below as more photos come in from TPC San Antonio.
