New shoes, same driver for Tiger Woods

Published

on

On Monday, Tiger Woods posted numerous videos of his swing during the opening of Bluejack National, his new course design in Montgomery, Texas. It’s not the first time we’ve seen videos of Tiger’s post-surgery swing, but the videos did have us at GolfWRX yelling “What are those?!” And not in the Internet-trend kind of way, but rather legitimately asking “What are those shoes he’s wearing?”

Here’s a closer look at the new Nike shoes, which we currently know nothing about, but they do look awesome.

From a club standpoint, Tiger is using the same Nike driver from last year, a Nike Vapor Speed TW with a Matrix Ozik TP7HDe shaft. The irons are the same, too, Nike’s Vapor Pro.

Tiger’s 2016 post-surgery swing certainly will never be confused with his swing circa 2001, we know that. What matters now is when Tiger is plotting a comeback to professional golf. Based on his willingness to show off his capabilities, it could be soon.

It’s not about the swing. We know he can hit the golf ball. It’s all about course management with using the tools you have. His swing (tools) are different now, so with that means that his course management will be different. That will be the factor to determine whether he is still a threat or can still win on tour. NOT what his swing “looks like”.

I love how he’s not dipping down into impact as much. He’s keeping a much more level head through the hitting zone. This will help his back…..or hurt it much less!

I like the swing. I hope he keeps that tempo. I can see him having much more longevity with that relaxed swing

It looks more like a swing for an older guy trying to protect his back. The knee snap is not good. He needs to take it easy and embrace his new journeyman status.

Those clubs are too much for him now, including the irons. He needs to switch to much more flexible shafts, so that he can flick at the ball more with arms and hands than tax his body by trying to throw all that stiffness and weight around.

You have got to be kidding… He isn’t a 30 handicapper

and professional golfers don’t “flick” at the ball with their hands. The best swings on tour have barely any club head movement. All body rotation. You can’t be consistent swinging with your hands unless your name is Bubba Watson

Smart money says change the driver. Or hit the ball with the shoe. That may work. The driver sure isn’t.

The last couple of tournaments he hit more than 60% of his fairways. But whatever….

What is he ranked like #970 in the world? The swing is not that good. Too steep and he lifts his head. He needs to go back to Butch or Hank. Also shit it down til 2017 or 2018 to avoid further injury.

What GolfWRXers are saying about Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing Kevin Kisner’s new Callaway X Forged CB irons which he has in the bag at this week’s CJ Cup. WRXers have been commenting on the switch and the clubs themselves in our forums.

For lots more photos, check out the full thread here.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • btyh: “Holy offset.”
  • Glf_LU: “These are interesting. Not going to make a rush to judgement until I see them in person. It does look like a little more offset than I would expect to see in this model.”
  • bcflyguy1: “Kisner is not one to make a lot of equipment changes (see the GBB driver he’s still using), so if these do have staying power in his bag that will be interesting to see. I have to wonder if there’s something different about his set, because like others have mentioned there appears to be more offset on his than I recall seeing in the samples I’ve had in hand.”

WATCH: PGA Tour players play hole blindfolded and it’s hilarious/amazing

Published

on

As part of a Srixon campaign, four PGA Tour players recently participated in a three-hole challenge, with each hole being a different game; hole No. 1 was blindfolded, hole No. 2 was costumes and distractions, and hole No. 3 was alternate shot with a baseball bat. The teams were Smylie Kaufman and Sam Ryder against Shane Lowry and Grayson Murray.

Watch the full video below, since it is quite entertaining (albeit not the type of golf that Old Tom Morris surely had in mind), but in particular, make sure to check out the first hole where Lowry and Ryder play a full hole completely blind folded. It’s amazing to watch how badly Ryder struggles, and how Lowry nearly makes par.

Cleveland-Srixon’s marketing department has been hard at work crafting these viral-esque ad campaigns; if you remember, former long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski recently dressed as 80-year-old Grandpa Jamie to fool range-goers. That video has since gathered over 1.2 million views on YouTube.
