Those c-taper shafts . . . love ’em. Good to see Fowler starting to put things together on a consistent basis.

top 5 in all 4 majors last year… overrated? not likely… Rickie is a very marketable guy with Cobra/ Puma regardless of the outcome yesterday… the win just solidifies his place in golf. I mean come on, who does he have to impress? the trolls that respond to this article in a negative way? The same trolls that would wet themselves if they played Sawgrass on any given day let alone on a Sunday with the entire world watching.

Well said! Rickie knew he was becoming more well known for his clothing and youth appeal than his game so hired Butch Harmon as his swing coach to change that…seems to have worked out 🙂

The anonymous “overrated” survey got a lot of hype/coverage this week… but the reality is I’m pretty sure Ricky doesn’t win without that news coming out. He should thank every single person that took part in that survey. It gave him exactly what he needed – a swift kick of motivation in the arse. Maybe now he has the confidence he needs to build a winning pedigree worthy of all his attention and endorsements. And maybe now he has the money to buy his girlfriend some real shorts…
Congrats Rickie – it’s about time.

Creasy stamping on his wedges. However those are worth some $$$. The par 5 eagle was insane and the final 6 hole finish also remarkable. Yo Ricky!
BTW was never a cobra fan but the drivers+woods are fairly good. Cobra turned the corner around 2010 and since then seem to impress.

Yesh Rickie! And to all you talkin down Cobra you are hereby pronounced “Idiots in the Extreme.” Every swing that dude put on it, those clubs had the answer. IT AIN”T THE ARROW, MnFers.
    P.S
IMO If a drive can be considered as one of the greatest shots of all time, the drive RF hit on 18 is up there. 17 gets all the attention, but IMO the tee shot on 18 is even more diabolical, and what he did there and where he hit it is INSANE! Great job, great tournament, great win, great kid!

If you have not tried those Fly z pro irons your missing out on something special. I am not a editor or anything but I thought it was ridiculous that they were not on the best players irons for this year.

I think they are going to have a Best Blade article soon, if I read correctly. Maybe they will be on there.

Tell those PGA Tour colleagues that voted you overrated to bend over to see if the Playaz Trophy fits in the dark 19th hole!!!

I wish you guys would open your eyes at how brilliant this marketing is long-term. Little 8 year old girls get to talk about “Ricky Flower” with their dads… they love this guy. And that driver, well, if you look at reviews with actual data behind them you will find that it’s quantifiably one of the best on the market. It’s also the only one that can quickly change trajectory based on front-back weighting. Don’t poo-poo it because you don’t understand it.

Ya, C-Tapers is always stiffer than normal stepped shaft.

The KBS c-taper X is insane. I picked up some used jpxez forged used with the stock xp105. My old set was mp 67 x100 I also had a set of mp 60 x100. I went to get fitted for some shafts on the jpxez forged set. They are super easy to hit but the shafts is way to weak. My long irons heel a ton of backspin and it’s like I’m hitting a wall. Anyway I wanted to try the KBS c taper s+ well they didn’t have that shaft.so I tried the c taper in a stiff and X stiff. Stiff was not bad at all but the X stiff was like a piece of rebar. After a half hour or so of the fitter wasting my time ( I tried The x100 first) he finally agreed, and so did the numbers of the monitor that the x100 shafts were the right fit. I didn’t pull the tiger and now I’m glad I didn’t I want to try the KBS c taper s+ first. I guess I’ll go somewhere else. If anyone has any experience first hand with these shafts I’d appreciate feed back. THANKS

I was fitted with the CTaper 120 S, with a 84mph 6 iron SS, slow tempo. Proven to be a bit too stiff in the course, so I softstepped.

        May 11, 2015 at 12:50 pm

I use the c taper stiff cut down half an inch..high ball flight and distance is consistent.. does not help with dispersion i guess i am always left right left right of the greens..lol
hit some blades with dynamic gold s200 and could not feel the shaft at all..c taper definitely is stiffer, you may like that or you may not.

If he intends to win majors he needs to play better quality equipment.

    • Ryan

      Feb 23, 2015 at 7:52 pm

What’s wrong with the cobra equipment? The bio cell and bio cell drivers were some of the most fit drivers in our shop last year. This year’s fly z pro was among the best one piece forgings from a U.S. company. Didn’t everyone say that about Rory after he switched over to Nike? How did that work out?

    • lsf_21

      Apr 5, 2015 at 12:25 am

Such an uneducated comment. What should he play then?

    • Really?

      May 10, 2015 at 9:18 pm

I think his set-up is pretty solid….those irons are def best Cobras I’ve hit to date and ACP’s were no slouch either….putter, check…wedges, what’s wrong with them? And his driver as mentioned above is def one of top drivers you can get off the shelf right now….so where is his inferior equipment? He did win correct? What were the other two using in playoff? I wouldn’t take either bag over Rickies’s.
      Just sayin’

Does his 59* wedge have stamped – I <3 speedos ? Or am I seeing things?!?

    • James Henry

      May 24, 2015 at 10:32 pm

Rickie used to use a 59° but switched to a 62. Then mixed his 55 and his 59° to a 57.

3-9 irons or does he only carry 13 clubs?

    That’s a pretty cool headcover.

Stiff in the irons what happened to the x100’s

      • AndyB

        Dec 30, 2014 at 1:16 pm

KBS C-Tapers’s play about a half flex stiffer than a lot of other shafts. So, the stiff Plus he is playing in the C-Tapers is pretty close to a DG X100.
