Hit what works. We were playing around with an old Persimmon driver a couple of weeks ago but had Titleist and Taylormade balls, not by choice it was what we had in our bags. I caught one pretty good and hit it within 15 yards of where I hit my pretty good drives on the first hole. This driver had a dynamic stiff shaft with a red cycolac insert. It was a custom made JP golf from Phoenix, around 1981. Oil hardened, bored 2 open, it was in mint condition. I had trouble hooking it (shaft?)and hit it medium to medium low in trajectory. I have no idea what the loft was as they didn’t put lofts’s on drivers then. If golf survives I believe there will be a market for clubs made between 1965-1982 in the future. Persimmon or laminated woods, irons of that period (take your choice)and putters, wedges. The laminates don’t hold up as well, I find they swell if not cared for well. Hard part might be the balls but I bet the manufacturers can remake them if necessary.

Nice Cameron cover for his odyssey putter and titleist headcover for his 5 wood. Pathetic how sponsors require this mess and players agree for the money

Pathetic??? a company offers to pay you to do a simple task of putting a cover over your club and will pay you money and that is pathetic??? like you or anyone else who plays golf wouldnt do that! LOL

Tim Clark’s Steelhead Plus 5-wood is 16 years old, right? It could get its own driver’s license.

Are there any members at GolfWRX who are younger than Clark’s 5-wood? My guess is yes.

Steelhead was and is a great club. So much hype in golf clubs from manufacturers, it’s a shame. Some clubs just do what they do and its all you need.
