Ping G10 Debuts on Tour

Ping has just released a new driver out on Tour. Thanks to our forum member Stealthontour, we have new pictures of the G10, so let the speculation begin!

Ping has come a very long way since Karsten Solheim began making putters in his garage in Redwood City, California. The company which pioneered game improvement technology has recently began rewriting their image to include designs such as the S-59 and S-58 geared towards better players while still staying true to its roots.

Perhaps the one category where Ping has made the most improvements to their design was in their drivers. The introduction of the G2 driver in 2003 was a radical change for the company towards embracing a more “mainstream” feel similar to other drivers in the industry. Gone was the old TisI Tech hosel and odd shape. The G2 was pure modern looks, feel, and performance. This was continued in the G5, and further expanded with the introduction of the Rapture in 2005 which incorporated composite construction with titanium and carbon fiber. From pictures on the USGA’s Conforming Driver List and those taken on the European Tour, it appears Ping is ready to take the next step in their driver line with the introduction of the G10.

Thanks to our forum member Stealthontour, GolfWRX has recieved fantastic images and information about the G10 and other fantastic pictures of the European PGA Tour from the Barclays Scottish Open.

Ping is traditionally very secretive about the information they release on their prototypes and new models. Quite a bit of speculation seems to be going around the G10 and its performance. It appears to be an all titanium model without the multi-material construction of the Rapture series. Will this be a replacement for the Rapture, or simply an addition to the line set to take over the G5’s spot? Join our discussion and add your opinion.

I have just gave my set of Henry Griffen clubs to my local pro at Thibodaux Country Clup to sell and he hopefully has ordered a set of G 10’s. I am hoping that these clubs will help to lower my handicap. Everyone i know say that these clubs will help my game. I am presently working overseas and looking forward to getting home and play a round with the Ping G10 irons.

G10 7.5 driver is amazing! I got one from the tour van,and it was too stiff,so I had it reshafted with the Diamana Blue….swing speed increased to 117 vs 102 with my 45 inch Taylor.
On the course,I was much straighter,and i picked up on average 22 yards on firm fairway,5-7 yards on soggy turf.

also, i see on their website that you have a choice of shafts between TFC 129D shaft flexes: Soft R, R, S and X, Grafalloy ProLaunch Red (R, S & X), and UST V2 High Launch 65 (R, S & X)

what is the difference in any of these? i have a prolaunch in my G5 and like it, but i’m not so sure i want a red shaft (although if it hits it longer and straighter that’s what i want for sure)

so is this supposed to be an improvement on the Rapture too? Longer, straighter? I know the Rapture is more expensive. If the price difference wasn’t an object, which is “better”? (i’m a 5 handicap who doesn’t hit it long. Avg drive about 255)

I hit this driver at Golf Galaxy in Arizona. This is way better thna the other 2 models. Way less spin and way more forgiving better than the SuperQuad/Hibore XL/ Ft-i and cheaper too. Definitely get this one however, I do not recommend the Draw version as that one has caused some problems (short off the tee and causes hooks for slicers!!!!!!!!) Causes more problems than it solves. Get the regular though I’m getting a 9 degree stiff ball goes 280 straight and my swing speed increased 5mph to 115!!!!! Ping got a winner here

I’ve been saving my duckets to get a set of G5 irons. But now that the G10s are out, i guess it only makes sense to get them instead. The Rapture’s are still their MOST game improving iron right? Or is it just that they are made of a Ti/Steel mix? What are the G5 irons made of?

The G10 series will be a replacement of the G5 series. It includes G10 drivers, G10 fairway woods, G10 hybrids, and G10 irons – both G10 and i10 (to replace the i5’s). The driver head is all Ti and the irons are stainless steel. You can check pix and specs at http://www.pinggolf.com.

I don’t think it’s the ugliest driver I’ve ever seen…I’ve seen what the Sumo squared looks like lol. But I can honestly say i’ve never been a big fan of Ping – their drivers spin the ball way to much (both back and side) and on off-center hits you can definitely do better…

im excited to but not ready to give up my g5 just yet..i shaved 5 to 6 strokes off my game changing from the r5 to the g5 if the g10 can knock another 10 im ready to change today.

TaylorMade goes bigger with Spider ZT Max putter

In the zero-torque putter world the TaylorMade Spider ZT has carved out a great following of golfers who love it. So TaylorMade wanted to go bigger and it did, literally. This new Spider ZT Max features a larger body that is made from aluminum to allow for heavier steel and tungsten weights to move to the perimeter. Combining the weight distribution with the larger size increases stability and the putter will reduce twisting on toe or heel impacts.

TaylorMade kept the zero-torque design the same with a shaft that inserts right near the CG location and 34mm behind the face. Placing the shaft here keeps the putter balancing with the toe up, helping keep the face pointed towards the target throughout the stroke. Each shaft is bored into the head with a 2 degree forward shaft lean to help keep that toe-up design consistent.

A unique sole design is incorporated into the putter to work with the center shaft so the putter doesn’t rock when it is soled on the green. Engineers looked at many different angles and putting strokes to make sure that the putter sits square behind the ball so alignment is easier. While you don’t see the bright white True Path alignment feature on the top of the putter, it is there in milled form. Milled lines on the top of the putter are the exact same width of a golf ball in order to help create better center face contact. The Pure Roll insert on the face is made from a combination of Surlyn and aluminum for a soft but solid feel. Forty-five degree grooves provide immediate forward roll and consistent speed on shots that don’t find the center of the putter.

Golfers can get the new Spider ZT Max in standard length, counter balanced, and in a long model. Offering the putter in these options lets players who find an alternative putting stroke better an option to get a high MOI mallet. The standard length models with get the same KBS CT 120 steel shaft as the new Spider Tour Torched putters while the CB and Long putters will get a KBS Graphite shaft that is heavier (155g & 210g). A Super Stroke Off-Axis Tour 2.0 and a Super Stroke 3.0 17″ grip are stock on these Spider ZT Max putters.

TaylorMade has dominated the mallet putter market with their expansive Spider putter line over the last few years. From players on professional tours to us everyday players, you will see a lot of Spider putters in bags. For 2026 TaylorMade is updating the Spider line with the new Spider Torched series that features a new torched PVD finish and some new head shapes.

The first thing you will notice about the Spider Torched putters is the bronze color finish. This finish takes inspiration from Rory’s custom Spider that is heated with a torch to get a multi-color bronze finish. When you heat stainless steel to around 600°F to 900°F it will change to this bronze color in a process called temper color. This happens because very high temperatures cause the metal’s surface to react with oxygen in the air, creating a thin transparent layer that gradually becomes thicker over time. Instead of using the time-consuming torching process, TaylorMade went with a more durable PVD finish to get a similar look.

For lining up the putter we see the tried and true True Path alignment that TaylorMade has been using on Spiders for what feels like forever. This high contrast line makes it faster and easier to get the putter pointed towards your target for more accuracy. You can also see the legendary Pure Roll insert that is made from white TPU for a softer feel. Each insert contains horizontal 45 degree grooves that put more forward roll on the ball and reduce hopping and skidding. Behind the insert is a Hybrar Echo Dampener that will reduce unwanted vibrations for a softer feel and sound at impact. On the sole TaylorMade kept the TSS weights so that you can dial in the head weight in order to get the perfect feel out of your Spider Tour Torched.

All of the new Spider Torched putters are offered with a premium KBS CT 120 putter shaft that features a gloss black finish. This upgraded shaft features a stiffer feel and low toque for added stability and consistency. The stock grip is a Super Stroke Pistol 1.0 while the counter balanced models get a Super Stroke 2.0 XL grip that is longer, 13.75″, in order to grip it further down easily. A new brown head cover has a leather texture and looks really good with the brown and light blue accents on it.
