Callaway Golf launches new CB12 wedge

Callaway Golf has today unveiled its new CB12 wedge.

The ’12’ in the name CB12 is derived from the 12 grams of perimeter weighting in the cavity. Moving the weight around in the topline is designed to help where the CG position is in order to create spin.

In addition, a new groove pattern, which is currently in the brand’s Opus product, creates a tighter pitch groove with 37-degrees of wall angle in a bid to create more spin around the green.

The wedge features Urethane Microspheres which aim to provide excellent feel, while the Tri-Sole is designed to be really forgiving for players who typically hit behind the ball a little bit.

The sole glides through the turf nice and easy in design to stop players losing ball speed as the sole glides through the turf. For golfers who struggle out of bunkers, the Tri-Sole is also designed to help, with forgiveness and spin being the name of the game when it comes to the new CB12 wedge.

The wedge are offered 50 through 60-degrees in one grind and come equipped with a choice of KBS High Rev 3.0, True Temper Denali Green, and Women’s UST Recoil shafts.

The wedge is at retail on the 18th of July, and are priced at $179.99 (steel) and $189.99 (graphite).

In our forums, not everything is about club selection and shaft options. A heated debate has bubbled up surrounding the best sock options players can wear on the course.

Maroon_19: “I’ve only worn Kentwool socks for golf for the last 8 years – regardless of weather. I walk 90% of my rounds and play anywhere from 50-75 rounds a year (going to go up as I just retired). They only get worn for golf. As long as you care for them, they’ll care for you. Have had zero blisters with them. I just started using my second set of 8 pair for our Bandon trip earlier this month. The old ones will now go into the daily wear rotation. Still good after all these years.”

The thicker socks are better for certain shoes. I’ve gone merino/other wool in almost all my socks – athletic, “dress” and so forth – no more “Orlon”, lol, some golf socks are the exception.”
