PXG launches new Xtreme Tour, Xtreme Tour X golf balls

Published

on

PXG made some big waves when it released the Xtreme golf ball last year. Now, PXG’s engineers have taken what they learned from the first ball and are releasing two tour-level golf balls — the Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X — to fit a wider range of golfers.

PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons on the new golf balls:

“The launch of our first golf ball was a huge success. Now, we’re taking it to the next level with the introduction of the new PXG Tour and Tour X golf balls. With these options, golfers can confidently be fitted for and choose the ball that best fits their playing style and performance goals.”

These new Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X golf balls were designed from the ground up for maximum performance with different characteristics. Both golf balls are three-piece designs featuring a new polybutadiene core for increased ball speed on all shots.

The mantle layer is a firmer ionomer material for adding even more distance off the tee and with clubs at the top of the bag. A durable urethane cover adds a soft feel and is used to create maximum spin for green-side control. For better aerodynamics and maximum flight PXG designed a 388 dimple, seamless cover.

This ball is built for the player looking for a more penetrating ball flight and lower spin with the long clubs in the bag. The Xtreme Tour will also give players a softer feel and is available in a high-visibility yellow.

A firmer feel is in store for players who want a higher trajectory than the Xtreme Tour. The Xtreme Tour X will spin higher for maximum stopping power on the green.

Both the PXG Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X are available now on PXG’s website and cost $49.99 per dozen.

Spotted: Titleist GTS USWO headcovers

Published

on

GolfWRX Tour Photographer Greg Moore was at Riviera Country Club this last week in Los Angeles for the U.S. Women’s Open. While browsing the photos, I spotted a recent major trend in headcovers. That is, the Titleist GTS headcover line expands the majors theme.

Seen on the bag of Natalia Guseva were the red, white, and blue Titleist GTS covers. This is the third time we have seen limited-edition Titleist major covers, the others being at the Masters and the PGA Championship. But with the launch of the GTS line back at the Texas Children’s Houston Open in March, this is the first time we have seen Titleist come out with major themed head covers for the season (driver headcovers through hybrids).

Check out some photos below.

At the Masters, we saw the familiar Masters green, white, and yellow. While the PGA Championship design was colors synonymous with the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team. This shows the season major drops continue full steam ahead for major OEMs. New opportunities for each major for designs and themes, and who knows, maybe a lucky spark for a player and a major championship for their resume. It gets the wheels turning for what major theme headcover you would keep on your bag for the whole season!
