The coolest head covers you’ll see today: Swag Golf commemorates an all-time Masters moment

When Hideki Matsuyama won the 2021 Masters, he became the first ever Japanese male golfer to win a major championship. As a sign of thankfulness to Augusta National, his caddie, Shota Hayafuji, took off his hat on the 18th green, turned to face the fairway, and bowed to the course.

The beautiful (and viral) moment will be forever engrained into the memories of golf fans, and now it’s commemorated on a small batch of headcovers, too.

To celebrate the all-time Masters moment, Swag Golf created a limited-run of covers for the Japan market, and “very few” for U.S. collectors. Of course, Swag made up a few for Matsuyama and Hayafuji, too.

“It was just such a cool moment in golf,” Nick Venson, Swag Golf’s founder told GolfWRX about the head covers. “Probably my favorite since Tiger and Rocco in the U.S. Open. We felt it would be cool to make a very small batch to honor it. I’m thankful that he was appreciative of the idea.”

While at the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open, Matsuyama autographed two of the short-run covers; a driver and putter version. The all-leather green-and-yellow signed covers probably won’t ever see the light of day on the aftermarket, but it’s still cool to see such a memorable moment captured on a brilliant piece of merchandise.
