Nike unveils Air Max 90 golf shoes to celebrate 50th anniversary of golf being played on the moon
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of golf being played on the moon, Nike is set to release a limited-edition version of the Air Max 90 golf shoe featuring a space age golf pattern.
The space-themed shoes are in a pink, white and green color code and feature imagery of a golfing alien as well as planets wearing Nikes and more.
The new Air Max 90 also features a Nike Golf alien logo on a pink square at the tongue with green laces. A foam midsole and Max Air unit in the heel are in design to provide cushioning for comfort.
The shoes also include a hybrid traction pattern on the bottom of the shoe which aims to provide excellent grip while also allowing you to wear the shoes off the course.
The shoe is inspired by Admiral Alan B. Shepard Jr.’s “shot heard around the galaxy” during the Apollo 14 mission to the moon in 1971 – in which the ball stayed in the air for over 30 seconds and is estimated to have traveled at least two miles.
Nike members will have the chance to purchase the shoes on February 4 before they are released to the public.
