Tiger Woods withdraws from Arnold Palmer Invitational with injury
Owing to a neck strain that’s been bothering him “for a few weeks,” Tiger Woods announced today he is withdrawing from this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, while stressing that his surgically repaired back is “fine” and that he has “no long-term concerns.”
The 14-time major champion posted the following to Twitter
1) Unfortunately due to a neck strain that I’ve had for a few weeks, I'm forced to withdraw from the API. I’ve been receiving treatment, but it hasn't improved enough to play. My lower back is fine, and I have no long-term concerns, and I hope to be ready for The Players.
— Tiger Woods (@TigerWoods) March 4, 2019
2) I'd like to send my regrets to the Palmer family and the Orlando fans. Its connection to Arnold makes it one of my favorite tournaments and I'm disappointed to miss it.
— Tiger Woods (@TigerWoods) March 4, 2019
The 43-year-old hasn’t missed a tournament due to injury since returning to competition following his April, 2017 spinal fusion surgery at the Hero World Challenge in December of that year.
In three starts this year, Woods has not made public mention of any injuries.
He most recently competed at the WGC-Mexico Championship, tying for 10th.
Woods won the Arnold Palmer Invitational eight times (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2013).
Woods is next expected in action at next week’s Players Championship.

I have really enjoyed watching Tiger play again, but knew as hard as he plays that the injuries would be back. He will have to be careful with his neck!

Probably strained his neck looking down on them haters.
Tiger not relevant anymore huh? He’s 12th in the OWGR playing only a few tournaments after coming back from surgery in the 2017 Hero World Challenge. I wanna see some of these clowns jump that high up and that fast in the rankings.
Also TV ratings are up when he plays. Saying that he’s irrelevant is not only wrong and disrespectful; it’s also ignorant.

I’m a huge Tiger fan but he looks old and washed up, even if he’s climbed up the rankings, he can’t come within 10 strokes of the leader in tourneys like D.J. last week. Sorry. Now he can’t even make it into the month of March without injuries, very sad to see. I want him to bet Jack’s record but not holding my breath.

Well I’m big fan of tiger also. D.J. just happened to be on that week and Tiger wasn’t. I’m not saying Tiger will ever dominate like he used to but even in losing he’s playing playing pretty good golf and will continue to compete. Yeah, I know we want him to win but him just being there makes it more interesting.

Tigers lower back is fused, so of course there is no pain.
He continues to stress his back with that swing, so naturally the damage is now in upper back and neck.
Needs to go back to his swing of 2000, before Hank, Butch, Sean and Chris managed to steepen his swing and which has done a number on Tigers body. Go back to swing of 2000 or retire, Tiger, before you become an invalid.
