Lamkin’s new 2018 grips, including TS1, Sonar and Players Cord (2018 PGA Show Day 1)

Published

on

Lamkin Grips displayed a wide array of new grips at the 2018 PGA Show on Day 1. Among the new grips includes the TS1 — which Rickie Fowler was spotted testing at the Farmers Insurance Open — Comfort Plus, Sonar, Players Cord and a Crossline 1150 wedge shaft.

Not pictured below, but also new from Lamkin, are the Z5 black/gray (cord) and Z5 Black (non-cord) grips. They use 5 different zones for traction and for comfort, and so golfers can keep a light grip pressure throughout the swing, according to the company. The Z5 Black sells for $5.99 each, and the Z5 black/gray grips will sell for $7.99 standard and $8.49 midsize.

All of the new grips, according to Lamkin, have a reduced-taper design; this means the grips are a bit thicker near the bottom portion.

Check out a bit more info and pricing on each of the grips we saw at the show below, and see all of our photos from the 2018 PGA Show here.

TS1

The TS1 grips use micro-textures and surface patterns, as well as a dual compound construction, for better feel and control. They sell for $9.99 in the standard size, and $10.99 in midsize.

Sonar

The Sonar grips use a hybrid compound including micro-textures and a softer material for enhanced comfort. They sell for $8.99 in standard size and $9.49 midsize.

Comfort Plus

Made for the ultimate in comfort, the Comfort Plus grips have a new DSX material for a softer feel, and micro-textures for traction. They sell for $7.99 standard size and $8.49 midsize.

Players Cord

The new Players Cord, which was co-developed by Bob Lamkin and Nick Price, according to Lamkin, has a softer feel than a typical cord grip. They will sell for $8.99 in standard size and $9.49 midsize.

Crossline 1150

The 11.5-inch long Crossline 1150 is made so that the golfer can choke down a bit farther on wedge shots for greater control. They feature a logo-less design, a Crossline pattern, and they sell for $7.99.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
