Spotted: New prototype Scotty Cameron putters for Hideki Matsuyama and Zac Blair
Over at the 3M Open this week, we spotted new Scotty Cameron putters in the bags of Hideki Matsuyama and Zac Blair. Both of these pros are known for having some amazing putters in their Scotty collections.
Hideki kicks it off with a black Tour Only Newport 2 with a unique alignment feature on it. On the topline is a white line that runs heel to toe, just inside the bumpers, that contains a small black dot. Usually this parallel line is teamed up with a line on the flange for a “T” look, but the flange is naked on Hideki’s NP2. The white line also has what looks like a black dot in the center that was done with a Sharpie to help focus on the center of the club face.

The sole contains two 5g Circle T weights, while the face is the typical shallow milling we see on most of Hideki’s putters. This milling more than likely offers a slightly more crisp feel and sound, giving him more feedback on his putts.

Zac Blair went with a very custom Timeless 2 model with an interesting hexagon neck. The neck is a long flowneck style that is in the shape of a hexagon pipe and then welded to the head. A single site line is on the flange with some interesting Scotty stamps in the back cavity, a sun and surfing stick figure all filled with Cameron’s Tiffany Blue paint. The face has a medium depth milling to it with the Titleist script and cherry bomb in the heel.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
