PXG 0317 CB irons: A forged cavity back for the Troops
We’ve seen PXG 0317 CB irons on tour already this season (such as in the bag of Luke List, pictured below). Now the irons are coming to retail, PXG announced today.
Joining the muscle back 0317 ST, PXG 0317 CB irons offer a measure of forgiveness and the performance benefits of a cavity back iron in a triple forged iron.
As a sidebar: Whether it’s the end of the line for PXG’s 0311 T line remains to be seen. The “T’s” were, perceptually at least, too hot and inconsistent for better — or more specifically, the best — players.
“For golfers who love the look and playability of a blade but know their game could use a little forgiveness every now in then, our new CB Irons are just the ticket,” PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons said. “From clubhead size, offset, and sole design to a flighted trajectory, these irons perform beautifully in the hands of better players.”
A PXG 0317 ST iron — launched in September, 2022 — pictured below.
The 0317 line is named after the 0317 U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper, so obviously, precision and accuracy are paramount. That mentality extends to the manufacturing process where 0317 CB irons are triple forged from 8620 soft carbon steel for a a tight, strong grain structure, then CNC milled, and finally robotically polished.
Like the 0317 ST, PXG’s 0317 CB irons also feature the company’s Precision Weighting Technology by which an adjustable (by a fitter) tungsten weight on the back of the clubhead is positioned on the center-of-gravity for purposes of feel, swing weight, and head weight.
The new milled PXG 0317 CB Players Irons are available in a Chrome or Xtreme Dark finish. Golfers can buy online or schedule a fitting at PXG.com. Price: $169.99/iron. See what GolfWRXers are saying about PXG 0317 CB irons in the forums.

Aretera officially launches Alpha One shafts, available at Club Champion
As we reported earlier this year, Alex Dee, along with a group of industry veterans, have officially launched their own golf shaft company, leading with the Alpha One. Now you can get your hands on that shaft at Club Champion.
The Alpha One Blue and Gray series are debuting Aretera’s PowerGrid technology. Aretera is the first company to use spread tow woven carbon fabric in multiple layers at full length comprising over 50 percent of the shafts weight in design for maximum stability with a uniform feel.
These materials, novel in their application at this level, aim to offer high-level structural benefits compared to traditional unidirectional composites.
Speaking on the new shafts, Alex Dee stated:
“A lot of shafts have had to sacrifice feel to get stability. We’ve found ways to get it back. And it’s not a compromise.”
Aretera launches on April 1, 2024 at all Club Champion locations nationwide.
