Spotted: Prototype Cobra King Vintage Stingray 20 putters

Published

on

We spotted some new Cobra King Vintage Stingray 20 putters this week at the Valspar Championship that look to be made for Jason Dufner. These prototype putters are not as new as you might think. If you recall, we spotted them last year at the Wells Fargo, and Rickie Fowler had one of these prototype Stingray putter in the bag. However, now we are seeing a few more neck options with the custom head.

So, what is so custom about the head on these Stingray 20 putters? The retail model has small “wings” on the outside of the putter to push the MOI higher. These prototypes have the wings removed for a more streamlined look that can be more pleasing to the eye for certain players. The retail Stingray’s aluminum SIK face insert with Descending Loft Technology is also missing from these tour models. The faces here look to have no insert and small horizontal grooves milled into it, but we are not sure if the Descending Loft Technology is still present.

Stingray Prototype vs. Retail Stingray

We also see some different neck options here that will change the look from address along with the amount of toe hang, or toe flow, the putter will have. There is an L neck with a heavy amount of offset, a standard L neck, a slant neck, and a small flow neck that we have photos of below. What model would you want to game, GolfWRXers?

Three Swing Challenge: Testing the Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks A+ grind

Published

on

The first wedge has made its way to the Three Swing Challenge! This week we have the WedgeWorks A+ grind that was recently released by Vokey. BK is looking for a new 60-degree wedge, and this could be a contender.

Why three swings?

Many years ago, the legendary Barney Adams, founder of Adams Golf told us this:

“My formula as a fitter was three shots only. I discounted No. 1 just because it was the first one, counted 100 percent of No. 2 and discounted No. 3 because the player was starting to adjust.”
