SPOTTED: Adam Scott’s new custom Miura irons at THE 2023 PLAYERS Championship

Published

on

Last year, at the 2022 Memorial Tournament, Adam Scott unveiled a set of custom 1-of-1 irons that were made by Miura and stamped with Scott’s personal logo on them. Scott took an immediate liking to those irons. He put them right into play at the Memorial that week, and he’s continued using them ever since.

But that might change this week.

On Tuesday at The 2023 Players Championship, Scott received a new set of custom Miura irons. While they’re quite similar in appearance to his previous set – at least, from the looks of the back cavity and address positions – they have a bit more Miura branding this time around (the Miura “M” logo in black on the sole, and Katsuhiro Miura’s Hanko stamp on the cavity in red).

While we don’t yet know what’s different about these particular irons, aside from the aesthetics, we do know that they’re fresh out of the packaging on Tuesday at TPC Sawgrass. They were yet to be hit at the time of GolfWRX taking in-hand photos.

We’ll keep you updated on whether Scott puts them in play come Thursday, but for now, check out our in-hand photos of the irons below.

    It’s not the irons, Adam.

    Learn to putt.

WOW super fresh and clean but none of us could hit those zero offset and small heads.

Them things are mega offset, look at the kink at the hosel!

So an honest gear question … years ago I believe Callaway introduced some irons with much shorter hosels, thereby allowing them to reposition that weight elsewhere. How come that idea didn’t seem to take hold and irons (especially wedges) still have such long hosels?

P.S. These Miura’s are beautiful, but I’m sure I couldn’t hit them to save my life!

It was a viable idea – unfortunately, the shafts would break a lot from those very short hosels, so they had to quit making them.
Which is why there’s so much more attention being paid to move weights around and put the weight towards the toe with inserts and plugs instead.

Ahhh … makes perfect sense. Thank you!

Just goes to show that offset is not something to demonize or is limited to game improvement clubs… it is simply a design characteristic that will fit certain swings and attack positions better than a low/zero offset design iron will. Furyk talked about this years ago too as someone who enjoyed a healthy bit of offset in his irons and wedges.

I’m not much for blade irons, but those irons at address look very nice.

    Nice irons, Adam.

Now get your putting in order and you may be competitive again.
