GolfWRX recently launched a new 8-part video series, called “The Modern Classics,” in partnership with 2nd Swing Golf. Throughout this video series, GolfWRX’s Head of Tour Content, Andrew Tursky, tests out 8 legendary used golf clubs that are still being played on Tour today. How do the older, less expensive products compare to modern technologies?

In the first four episodes, Tursky tested out TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred MC 2011 irons, an Adams Idea Pro hybrid from 2006, a TaylorMade Rocketballz RBZ fairway wood, and a TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 3-wood.

For episode 5, we highlight the Nike VR Pro Limited Edition fairway woods, which were released to the public in 2011. Although they’re more than a decade old, we spotted one in Scottie Scheffler’s bag up until 2022.

The Nike VR Pro Limited Edition fairway woods are currently available for $84.99-$99.99.

Check out the video at the top of the page for more on the product, design, and how it stands up to testing against a modern 3-wood.

I have the 3 and 5 wood in these, great clubs although they don’t get in the bag too often. Saying that I have no intention of selling them!

I think what you are presenting is great. A nice collaboration and partnership with a secondary channel for used equipment. These OEMS are simply victims of their own greed. I am certain that the Nike fairway metal is a good club. And in the right hands a great performer. You know, the go to club, fairway finder. Anyway, much of the marketing in golf today is getting fitted: and use metrics like ball speed as a selling point. How many 12 handicaps sit at the bar bragging about Swing speed and Ball Speed. Certainly, they are not bragging about how much they have lowered their handicap. Not to go into details but my fairway metal is an older Taylormade…. just love it. Looks good, confident. If you fitted me with a new 3 wood and said that my ball speed was 10% better? Not going to change. Just tells how clubs are being made today: with planned obsolescence. Three years ago, I checked the ball speed on said three wood and it is the same today. Check a TM Stealth in 3 years.
There are some GREAT products at 2nd Swing that have stood the test of time.

Someday you will showcase this 3wood. Because it is one that has indeed stood that time test.

It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball. It even allows us to share another thing we all love – buying and selling equipment.

Currently, in our GolfWRX buy/sell/trade (BST) forum, there is a listing for a set of Mizuno 245 irons.

From the seller: (@JB_007): “1. Mizuno Pro 245 – $1000 –> 950/obo
