SuperStroke reveals new “Zenergy” grip lineup on the PGA Tour
On Tuesday at the Cadence Bank Houston Open, GolfWRX spotted a lineup of new SuperStroke “Zenergy” putter grips.
Arnie Cunningham, a SuperStroke tour rep who travels to weekly PGA Tour events, explained to GolfWRX how the new SuperStroke Zenergy grips differ from the previous lineup of Traxion grips. Although SuperStroke isn’t yet revealing full tech details or a release date, here’s what Cunningham had to say:
“We brought out the new Zenergy grips at the Cadence Bank Houston Open. What we’re doing is updating the graphics, and we’re moving into a new line from the Traxion line. It’s called Zenergy, with a ‘Z.’
“We’ve got new, enhanced textures in the gripping zone, which is primarily down the side of the putter grip. Better textures, better feels. We’ve also got a new enhanced spine on the underside of the grips, which is just a little different. It’s going to feel slightly thinner to some people than the original spine in the Traxion. You’ll still have the feel of knowing where your hands are. It’s just not quite as protruding.”
“Then we’ve focused on improving the material. The material has gotten better each and every cycle with our grips. It really helps the feel of the putter.”
“The new colors are fantastic. We have seven new colorways: a really beautiful blue, we’ve added a purple, then we’ve got a lot of the traditional grays, reds and blacks that we’ve always had. The orange-and-blue is more racing inspired [not Miami Dolphins]. A lot of the car colors these days are that way. It does have an initial look of the Miami Dolphins, but the blue is a little lighter than that.”
“We’ve got a real soft launch right now. The feedback has been absolutely 100 percent. Everybody likes it. We only have enough product to display right now, and seed a couple. Right now, we have two guys in play that decided to put it on their gamer right away: Taylor Pendrith, who’s just coming off the Presidents Cup, he has a Flatso 1.0, and Brent Grant has a Pistol Tour. We have those two players for now, and we could add more. It’s still only Tuesday.”
“That’s the other thing we’re doing, we’re dropping the name GT. So instead of Pistol GT Tour, Pistol GT 1.0, Pistol GT 2.0, it’ll just be Pistol 2.0, 1.0, Tour, etc. It’ll switch into Zenergy going forward on everything, and we’re moving away from Traxion.”

Rickie Fowler’s new putter: Standard-length Odyssey Jailbird 380 in custom orange
Editor’s note: This is an excerpt from a piece our Andrew Tursky originally wrote for PGATour.com’s Equipment Report. Head over there for the full article.
…The Jailbird craze hasn’t really slowed down in 2024, either. According to Odyssey rep Joe Toulon, there are about 18-20 Jailbird putter users on the PGA TOUR.
Most recently, Akshay Bhatia won the 2024 Valero Texas Open using a broomstick-style Odyssey Jailbird 380 putter and Webb Simpson is switching into a replica of that putter at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
Now, Fowler, who essentially started the whole Jailbird craze, is making a significant change to his putter setup.
Fowler, who has had a couple weeks off since the 2024 RBC Heritage, started experimenting with a new, custom-orange Jailbird 380 head that’s equipped with a standard 35-inch putter build, rather than his previous 38-inch counter-balanced setup.
According to Fowler, while he still likes the look and forgiveness of his Jailbird putter head, he’s looking to re-incorporate more feel into his hands during the putting stroke.
He told GolfWRX.com on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Championship that the 38-inch counterbalanced setup “served its purpose” by helping him to neutralize his hands during the stroke, but now it’s time to try the standard-length putter with a standard-size SuperStroke Pistol Tour grip to help with his feel and speed control.
Although Fowler was also spotted testing standard-length mallets from L.A.B. Golf and Axis1 on Tuesday, he confirmed that the custom Odyssey Jailbird 380 is the putter he’ll use this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

Those grips just get nasty. There are plenty of other options that don’t discolour and get yucky.
