Is Collin Morikawa switching putters at the 2022 Presidents Cup?

The last time we saw Collin Morikawa tee it up in competition, he was using a 1-of-1 TaylorMade “CM Proto” prototype black blade-style putter.

Throughout 2022, we’ve also seen Morikawa — who was 131st in strokes gained: putting last season — using a number of different putters, including a TaylorMade Spider GT Rollback mallet, and a TaylorMade TP Juno.
On Tuesday at the 2022 Presidents Cup, however, it appears Morikawa is switching things up again. This time, GolfWRX spotted him using a TaylorMade TP Soto with a short slant neck, a dot as the top line at address (he normally opts for a single white line), and it’s equipped with an LA Golf putter shaft.
Speaking with the press on Wednesday, here’s what Morikawa had to say regarding the putter:
“A lot of it was because of setup adjustments (flatter lie angle at 68 degrees, and shorter build at 33.5 inches). I went to the Soto rather than Juno. I wanted the look. Then I was just messing around and messing around with like three different necks just to see how my hands sat if they were at the same lie angle, and go from there.”
Morikawa then explained why he went with a dot as his alignment aid, rather than a line:
“We just haven’t had time to kind of get the line perfectly how I want it. I think with where my eyes are sitting and how it’s sitting down, I think we might have milled it in a little too deep and just the way the angle sits when it’s sitting down, the way my eyes look at it, it doesn’t look as straight as it should be. That’s something we’ll kind of mess around with probably after this week, but they made a bunch of putters, and it was never a thought. It was more about let’s get this right, looking good and feeling good in my hands.”

Three Swing Challenge: Testing the Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks A+ grind
![](https://www.golfwrx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Blank-1014-x-768.png)
The first wedge has made its way to the Three Swing Challenge! This week we have the WedgeWorks A+ grind that was recently released by Vokey. BK is looking for a new 60-degree wedge, and this could be a contender.
Why three swings?
Many years ago, the legendary Barney Adams, founder of Adams Golf told us this:
“My formula as a fitter was three shots only. I discounted No. 1 just because it was the first one, counted 100 percent of No. 2 and discounted No. 3 because the player was starting to adjust.”
