Will Zalatoris hits out at ‘Instagram morons’ following tough US Open defeat

Published

on

Fresh off of another heartbreaking defeat in a major championship, Will Zalatoris was asked if this tough loss stung as much as ones previous.

“I think this one—I’m just fresh coming off of 18 because I thought I had it, and it just happened to stay out there. This one hasn’t sunk in,” he said. “Masters was pretty special, just obviously being there, considering that seven months prior I was playing on the Korn Ferry, and then having a chance to win the Masters.”

The 25-year-old then made a reference to comments written on his Instagram page, which he’d apparently been reading through prior to his post-round press conference.

“I honestly don’t know what to take from this yet. I was pretty pleased just because I’m known for my ball striking. I’m sure all the Instagram morons are going to say it has something to do with my left wrist flexion coming down, but I promise you, it’s got nothing to do with it.”

Many will say professional athletes should ignore those types of comments on their social media pages. That may be easier said than done for a new generation of athletes who’ve grown up in the age of social media and handheld devices.

That is a great response from Zalatoris. The guy is one of the premier ball strikers on the PGA tour right now which is why he is at the top of the leaderboards every week and climbing up the OGWR.

WZ WILL raise the trophy in 2022, but which one it will be is the question since he’s too talented NOT to win. In Golf, LUCK always is part of the winning formula…

Left wrist flexion? Is that the motorcycle move doctrine teachers are teaching now?

Anywhere readers are allowed to comment on any subject, it is pretty much guaranteed what Zaltoris called the Instagram users is absolutely accurate. Do any of you read the stuff the big brave golf experts say here in the reader comments. Little boys with gigantic egos and the ability to not be held accountable for what they say.

Sungjae Im doing ‘Gangnam Style’ at Presidents Cup after-party is the must see video of the year

Published

on

If any golfer in the world deserves to let their hair down once in a while, then it’s Sungjae Im.

The 24-year-old was the joint top scoring International player at the Presidents Cup, after a season in which he competed in a whopping 26 events on the PGA Tour.

After a gruelling season and after a stellar performance at Quail Hollow, the South Korean was ready to party, and he did so in the most epic of ways.

In a video posted by Tony Finau, Im led the way at the Presidents Cup party going ‘Gangnam Style’ – debuted by his fellow countryman Psy back in 2012 – and as you can see, it lit up the room with both U.S. and International players cheering him on.

The after-party sure looked like a wild time, as not only did Im show another side to him, but we also got to see Hideki Matsuyama’s caddie, Shota, have every U.S. player sign their names on his body.

No doubt some heads were sore on Monday morning, but by the looks of things it was probably worth it.

Tour pro hit with 4-stroke penalty at Monday-qualifier after committing frustrating error

Published

on

During Monday’s qualifier for the Sanderson Farms Championship, former PGA TOUR winner Wesley Bryan was issued a rare penalty.

Carrying 15 clubs is against the rules, and Bryan realized he had one too many when he picked up a 7-iron that wasn’t the one he’d been using.

Bryan didn’t take the penalty too harshly, and even laughed it off after he came to the realization.

“That’s the wrong 7-iron – you can go and add four to my score boys!” Bryan said to his playing partners in Mississippi.

“Yeah we definitely have too many. We have two 7-irons in there – you handed that to me I was like ‘wait a second’ – Can you imagine if we were like 4 or 5-under at this point?”

Bryan was not in contention when he was assessed the four-shot penalty, which I’m sure led to his laid back reaction.

Ian Poulter takes swipe at Justin Thomas over short putt complaints at Presidents Cup

Published

on

Over the weekend, Justin Thomas was involved in a dramatic Sunday singles battle with Si-Woo Kim, with the Korean eventually prevailing on the final hole of the day.

During that match, Thomas expressed his frustration at Kim not giving him a 3-foot putt on the ninth hole, with Thomas motioning that the putt may have been in ‘gimme’ range

Some found JT’s complaints hypocritical after a video had previously shown the 29-year-old shut down Jordan Spieth, who appeared to suggest giving Adam Scott a short putt earlier in the week.

Ian Poulter, known for his pedigree in match play singles, weighed in with his view on JT’s complaints, and unsurprisingly the Englishman had no sympathy for the two-time major champ, saying:

Poulter’s view appears to be the popular take on the matter, with plenty of golf fans frustrated with Thomas, who also admitted he had been ‘p*****d off’ with Si-Woo Kim for deciding to shush the crowd during their tense encounter on Sunday.
