Yes! thrives on Tour under TaylorMade

Published

on

When TaylorMade bought Adams Golf last year, many golfers were worried about how far TaylorMade would extend its reach into Adams’ practices. But so far, TaylorMade has for the most part left Yes! Putters to do its own thing.

Blair Philip, Yes! Golf’s director of R&D, said that he has had interaction with TaylorMade whenever Yes! needs insight or has a new idea, but other than that, TaylorMade has been largely hands-off.

One of the biggest advantages for Yes! under TaylorMade has been the increased exposure to PGA Tour players. Philip said the number of Tour players using Yes! putters is the highest its ever been, and that he expected it to get higher as the year goes on.

“We communicate directly with (TaylorMade’s) Tour department for the first time instead of going head-to-head,” Philip said. “We’re actually working in tandem with them and we strategize. We try to fill the gaps. We work with the Tour players directly.”

One of the more notable Tour players to use Yes equipment is Aaron Baddeley. He used a Yes! putter at this year’s Humana Challenge, where he finished in a tie for 27th. Philip also said he planned to work with new Adams signing Robert Garrigus in the near future.

“We just think we’re going to carry this momentum on Tour and in retail,” Philip said. “We’re having a great, great sale-end this year so far.”

Thanks Greg, I’m going to have to check out this New putter as I love a soft feel. I have an original YES Callie which they call the Legacy Models. But I’m really interested in the New I 4 Tech. Thanks again, Tim
