Tour Edge unveils new E522 and C522 irons
Tour Edge has introduced its new E522 and C522 irons in its new family of 522 clubs which the company describes as “The easiest clubs you’ll ever hit”.
Hot Launch E522 Iron (Iron-woods)
The E522 irons feature a new Houdini Sole in conjunction with a super-shallow face, slice-fighting offset design, and heel weighting in design for added draw bias.
The raised steel mass area of the Houdini Sole at the rear of the iron head reduces the amount of sole area in a bid to reduce drag and turf interaction. Per Tour Edge, the Houdini Sole design element has proven to be one of the most effective technologies at getting balls out of tough lies by reducing turf interaction by 35%.
The hollow-body perimeter weighting aims to provide players with distance properties of a metalwood in an iron design for maximum ball speed, while the hollow body design makes for an extremely low and back Center of Gravity, which seeks to create a very forgiving and robust face.
The E522 irons feature a super-shallow Cup Face design which is designed to produce higher launch angles and extreme ease of launch. This super-thin forged face design seeks to offer the ultimate in enhanced launch characteristics, with extreme ease of launch, increased apex heights, hang time and distance all targeted.
In addition, the offset design of the E522 irons aims to work in conjunction with the heel weight in the clubhead to help players avoid hitting slices and increase launch conditions.
The E522 Iron comes stock with a Fubuki HL graphite shaft by Mitsubishi that ranges from 50-grams to 60-grams depending on the flex. It is also available in a KBS MAX 80 steel shaft.
Hot Launch C522 Iron
Constructed of 431 stainless steel, the C522 irons are designed to offer maximum distance, forgiveness and soft feel in a traditional cavity back design.
At the heart of the C522 iron is the new Vibrcor technology that comes to the Hot Launch line for the first time with this iron.
Vibrcor is a high-grade TPU strategically placed in the deep undercut pocket in design to create a new speed-inducing and feel-enhancing internal technology.
The technology creates a distinct feel of the clubhead at impact that dampens sound and shock while also creating perimeter weighting around the entire clubhead in a bid to offer maximum forgiveness, power and ball speed enhancement off the face.
In addition, the deep 360 degree Undercut Cavity bids to promote a myriad of game-enhancement benefits in a classic iron design. The expanded undercut cavity is designed to provide maximum forgiveness and consistent performance. At the same time, it also seeks to offer an increased repulsion effect for high-speed power off the face and a higher launch angle and enhanced forgiveness.
The C522 irons feature a wide sole design that lowers the Center of Gravity in design to offer excellent bounce and increased launch for cleaner, high-flying shots. The wide sole design also seeks to provide cleaner turf interaction for more consistent shot-making.
The advanced toe weighting technology in the C522 Iron aims to maximize stability on impact and provide better off-center hit distance from the face of the iron, while the strategically placed toe weight is designed to elongate the sweet spot and provide a pure feel off the face of the irons.
The lower and deeper Center of Gravity allowed the C522 irons to be power-lofted for added distance and lower spin with the same launch characteristics as a standard lofted iron to complete the irons.
The Hot Launch E522 and C522 arrive at retail on October 1 and are priced at $79.99 per iron for the C522 irons, while the E522 irons will retail for $99.99 per iron.

From the Forums: I need more forgiveness in my irons – Looking for recommendations
In our forums, our members have been discussing the most forgiving irons currently on the market. WRXer ‘TheShark1’ is on the hunt for a new set of irons, saying:
“Currently gaming the Mizuno Pro 225’s but think I need more forgiveness in my irons. My well struck shots are real nice, but my mishits are not performing as good as I had hoped anymore. I really like hollow body irons so if I could find something more forgiving in a hollow body iron that would be great.
Open to any and all recommendations other than Ping. Can’t hit Ping irons at all.”
And our members have been sharing their best suggestions in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- AvidSwampThing66: “Another vote for the super forgiving and fast Paradym irons. They look really good for being a GI iron.”
- bobfoster: “I just went from MP20 MMCs to the new 245s in my scoring irons (just played my first round with them today). If you have a chance to try them, you might find them worth a serious look.”
- vman: “Shoot me down, but spend the money on lessons.”
- J_Tizzle: “i525s are great off the heel in my opinion.”
