Love that he seems to match the shaft to the need and doesn’t seem to worry about flex. S400 in the irons but X100 (different shaft in the UDI) and then X100 in the wedges.
Wonder what it is about the UDI that he prefers over the Srixon utilities?

I am wondering about his irons they are not the same Z Forged as shown on the SRIXON site. The soul design is different and the muscle on the back is not the same.

Exactly what I also spotted since I own the Z Forged. The sole is more in line with the ZX7 & 5´s. So this must be the next gen of Z forged.

So, Matsuyama plays the Srixon ZX5 driver. Find that interesting. ZX5 is described to be forgiving, while the ZX7 driver is for fast swinging players that want more control.

he uses x100s in his wedges and s400 in his irons?

There was an article earlier this year that mentioned his launch characteristics just worked better this way. I understand the X100’s are actually slightly softer in the tip than the S400……maybe that’s his ticket.

Wow didn’t realize that

They really aren’t. That line of thought stems from the numbers in the Wishon Shaft Profile database. True Temper says its not the case, and other clubmaker profile efforts show a stiffer tip in X100 than S400.
