How to pick a wedge brand? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing the process behind selecting a wedge brand. WRXer ‘Phireside’ is on the hunt for a new set of wedges, and says
“I’ve been playing Mizuno wedges for a while now, and I’m in the market for a new set but don’t know where to begin. Is there really much difference in wedges? Going out to hit a bunch of wedges isn’t really an option.
What’s the difference between the likes of Mizuno, Vokey, Callaway, Cleveland, TM?”
And our members have been sharing their thoughts in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- tbrumbleloe13: “I wouldn’t say there are any big performance differences in wedges right now. I would just go based off what looks the best to you, and maybe consider what grind/bounce you might need. Some of them have more options than others.”
- A.Princey: “I say Titleist, hands down, just based off the huge variety of bounce options. This is the most important factor IMO in choosing any wedge, let alone a brand.”
- timmekang: “I have gamed Clevelands and Mizunos growing up. Then just a few years ago switched to all Vokeys and have been kicking myself why I didn’t switch earlier. Another thing I wish I did earlier was game the matching Vokey pitching wedge and have my irons start at a 9iron. In fact, if Vokey ever decides to make a 9iron equivalent loft in his wedges, I would buy that too in a heartbeat.”
- lazyjc4: “I’d say bounce and grind are as important, if not more, than everything else. My PM grinds are hideous to look at and don’t feel as good as many other wedges I’ve tried, but there’s no short game shot I can’t hit with them. They just fit and perform.”
