I could care less what the media hacks, who are always agenda driven say. They can stick their cancel crap too. PR is a great player, and the fact is the media never liked him , because he could care less what they think. Good on him.

Exactly. CBS’s coverage of it was a joke (thought Jim Nantz was about to cry at one point), and the ppl on Golf Channel were pathetic too (Brandel I’m looking at you!) He followed the rules based on the info he was given by the person on the scene and the official gave the ruling. End of story!!

Read the rule book.
I agree it looks bad, but it’s in the rules, and all the players do it..

Cancel culture tube steaks are infiltrating golf. What a shame. He didn’t know the ball bounced case closed!

Good call. Adam Scott was used the 2015 ProV1 when he won the Genesis last year.

I think they were commenting on how he stuck his finger in the hole. Questioning if he made the lip in the hole. Otherwise I think it was fine.

I do love his play and his scrambling. Dude can ball. But he is also a cheater.
For years I was on his side for the rumors in college. Must have been a misunderstanding. But nope, he cheats, he stole snd he cheated again and when they looked back they found even more cheating.
So unfortunately now when his actions are questioned everyone is going to assume he cheated to dig that ball out of the rough. Sure the rules are the rules. But he saw that ball deep in the hay and then most likely used the “embedded rule” to get releif from a burried ball and gets up and down for par.
Maybe rory did as well. But he has never told the world he never cheats and uses that for fuel only to get caught cheating… twice!

I’m not the biggest fan of Patrick Reed but the scrutiny he gets by announcers Jim and nick is atrocious. If they can’t be impartial they need to be replaced. Rory didn’t even call a rules official over yesterday for a plugged ball and I didn’t hear them mention that once. Patrick did everything by the book according to the pga, But all day during the telecast they all talked about the 10th. Like they want an asterisk by this win. one announcer even said he wouldn’t sleep at night if he did that. Can we never see nick or Jim again. I’m tired of their favoritism.

So given the rules official felt where the ball had been embedded, which of these three is most likely
1) ball broke ground when it bounced forward 3 feet or so from original landing place
2) ball happened to land in an old impression
3) he made impression while under impression ball did not bounce and prior to rules official arriving

Right? You nailed it. It would be so easy for him to get there 1st, and push down his ball with his hand just before picking it up. Also shadey that he doesn’t wait for any players or officials before he picks it up. Then he tries to shift the conversation away from marking and picking his ball early to “so I set it down so it’s known I’m not cleaning it.” Every time I’ve picked up a ball, or seen anyone pick up a ball, they just hold it out in front of them with two fingers. Easy, done. Seemed like he was fishing for bonus “I’M HONEST” points for doing an unnecessary thing.

4) Spotter who came over and put marker in the ground accidently stepped on ball.

I never linked Jim Nantz. He fawns and slobbers over big corporations, the PGA and celebs. Faldo also has turned out to be a stooge. Big win for Patrick Reed. I am glad he did not let this affect his play. He is not my first choice to win but he played great golf.
Mick

Why does Nantz cry all the time? Is it for ratings or “drama” ?. Sick of him crying all the time and his pre planned catch phrases. Time for him and faldo to go.

Ask Rory for it. He picked his plugged ball without calling a tour official over or asking his playing partners.
