Titleist introduces the Wedge Works 64W “Jimmy Walker” Grind

Published

on

Jimmy Walker is a player who would fall into the “feel” category. Never afraid to mix it up and try something, he found himself experimenting later last year with a 64T that Vokey Wedge master Aaron Dill had sent him.

“At first I loved the idea of the 64 and the options it gave me, the only issue I was having with the original was a lack of speed through the turf…it felt a bit sticky.”

In normal people’s speak, this means it had too much bounce, but in all reality sometimes that can mean not enough bounce.

Very few understand a player’s club language like Dill. Knowing Jimmy is a Texas-raised player who prefers something fast with low bounce, he shaved a bit of bounce (from 6 to 4) off of the already low bounce T grind.

“This thing is a joke” was Walker’s text response after testing.

It went in the bag immediately, and when Dill finally met up with Walker at TPC Scottsdale the results were undeniable.

“He went around the short game area and put on an absolute clinic, we knew it was a keeper.”

Check out some exclusive shots of Walker’s prototype wedge below (thanks to Jimmy for the pics!)

Why deviate from the actual club? Manufacturers continue to do this and it makes no sense

I wonder what kind of stamp they used on Jimmy’s original to stamp the “64.” Very clean and deep.
